Dear Traders & Investors,
Basket Orders on Dhan have always been one of the more quietly powerful features on the platform. For many of you, they are a core part of your trading and investing workflow, whether it is placing multi-leg options strategies, managing hedged positions, executing equity portfolios, or simply saving time by placing multiple orders together in one go.
Over time, we have seen traders and investors use Basket Orders in different ways based on their own style, strategy, and discipline. Some use it for faster execution during market hours, some use it to plan trades in advance, and some use it to bring more structure to their investing journey. With this update, we are making Basket Orders even more intelligent and useful with three new capabilities:.
Introducing: Basket Order with Conditional Triggers, Basket SIP & 1-by-1 execution

Conditional Triggers of Basket Order
We are introducing Conditional Triggers, which lets you define an entry condition, an exit condition, or both, for an entire basket. Once the condition is met, Dhan executes the basket automatically, sequentially, within RMS limits, and without any manual intervention required from you. As simple as that!
The Entry Trigger is straightforward. You pick any scrip as your reference, it does not have to be part of your basket, and define a price condition. When that condition is crossed, your entire basket fires. If you run a NIFTY straddle strategy and want it to enter only when NIFTY crosses a certain level, you set that once and let the market do the rest.
The Exit Trigger is where the feature becomes a complete trading plan. You can define your exit on three conditions, a Profit for the basket, a Loss for the basket, or a price-based condition. These work on OR logic, which means the first condition that gets hit will trigger the exit. When the exit fires, Dhan sends all the orders available in the basket to exchange with opposite transaction types.
When you combine Entry and Exit triggers on a single basket, you are essentially defining your entire trade upfront. Entry level, profit target, and stop loss, all set before the first order of the basket is executed. For options strategy traders who run structured positions, this is the closest thing to a systematic setup without writing a single line of code.
Basket SIP
While single stock SIPs are popular on Dhan, we are also launching Basket SIP alongside this. For traders and investors who run equity or ETF baskets and want to invest in them on a regular schedule, you can now set up a recurring SIP on your basket - daily, weekly, or monthly.
You pick the date, Dhan executes on schedule. If the date falls on a holiday, execution moves to the next working day automatically. This is built exclusively for delivery and MTF-based stocks & ETF baskets, and it works independently from conditional triggers.
1-by-1 Execution of Basket Orders
We are also introducing a new 1-by-1 execution option for Basket Orders. This is useful when you do not want each order to complete its journey before the next one is sent to the exchange.
When you tap 1-by-1, Dhan will send the first order to the exchange and wait for it to reach a final status - Executed, Failed, or Cancelled. Only then will the next order in the basket be sent. If an order is still Open, Pending Execution or is in Transit, the next order will continue to wait.
While an order is being processed, the remaining orders in the basket will show a new Waiting status. As soon as the current order reaches a final status, the next order automatically moves out of Waiting and is sent to the exchange. You do not need to manually continue the basket. Importantly, the basket will continue even if an individual order fails or gets cancelled. The next order will still be sent automatically. This gives you more control while executing multi-leg strategies, illiquid contracts, or baskets where margin and exposure need to be managed one order at a time.
A few things we want to be transparent about before you start using this. Execution is best-effort based on the parameters at exchanges. This does not offer tick-by-tick precision or guaranteed fills. Margin availability, market conditions, and exchange rules apply at the time of execution. Partial executions are possible, and every leg’s status will be visible to you clearly in the orderbook. You remain in control at all times.
You will find this inside any existing or new basket. Edit the basket, and you will see the option to enable an Entry Trigger, Exit Trigger, or SIP from within the basket flow itself. This is live on Dhan App & Web.
This has been one of the more complex features we have shipped on the basket infrastructure. Try it this week, run your strategies through it, and tell us what you find. We will be reading every comment below.
