Do You Have a Pre-Market Routine?

Many traders focus on entries and exits, but preparation before the market opens can play an equally important role. A structured pre-market routine can help improve clarity, reduce impulsive decisions, and align trades with a proper plan.

This thread is for sharing habits and routines that help traders prepare better.

Please share:

  1. Do you follow a fixed pre-market routine

  2. What do you check before the market opens (global markets, news, levels, open interest, etc)

  3. How much time do you spend preparing before trading

  4. Do you read Dhan market insights daily? And how does it help you?

  5. Do you write down key levels or trade plans in advance

  6. One habit that improved your market preparation

Both beginners and experienced traders are welcome to share their routine.

What does your pre-market preparation look like?

I set up the upper and lower levels on my chart before the market opens, and once it’s open, I see if the price is above or below those levels.

My pre-market routine is usually calculaing these levels and plotting it to the chart.

Thanks to Dhan’s TV charts.

I mainly track gold silver price on TVC exchange USD per ounce rate these days in the morning and global news.

Dhan news notification is very helpful in these regards.

Yes. Place an SL-M AMO order for the commodity futures trade. For the equity segment, set TradingView alert levels and Dhan basket orders for the Nifty positional system.

Just Gift Nifty, USD Gold / Silver to make peace with likely open prices.

5 minutes for the above two things.

No. As I am a rule-based trader, those insights have little to no impact on my trading decisions.

No. The algo sets the levels. I place alerts at those levels and execute the trades on Dhan via webhooks.

Not to watch market / charts etc too much. Let the algo do its thing.
