Introducing: Now Invest in US Stocks & ETFs via DhanHQ Trading APIs

Hello Everyone,

At Dhan, we have always believed that access to capital markets should not be limited by the platforms available to you by the broker. We have worked towards opening access to market infrastructure that earlier was accessible only to institutions.

Across our platforms, with the execution capabilities of DEXT and analytical features like full market depth, stocks screening, advanced option chain and state of the art charts, we have been working on giving more power to each and every individual trader.

This belief has also shaped DhanHQ from the very beginning. We released DhanHQ APIs very early in our journey to ensure every trader has the opportunity to build their own strategies and tools as they wish to.

What started with Trading APIs has grown into a developer-first ecosystem with Data APIs, Super Orders, Full Market Depth, Expired Options Data, postbacks, and seamless execution with utmost reliability. We have always built with the vision to make powerful trading infrastructure accessible through clean, reliable, and easy-to-use APIs.

Whether you build systematic strategies, create your own dashboards, manage portfolios through APIs, or build products for other investors and traders, we want DhanHQ to be the infrastructure layer that helps you build faster and better - in your ways.

Today, we are extending this API-first experience beyond Indian markets.

Introducing: US Stocks & ETFs on DhanHQ APIs

US stock API

A few days ago, we introduced US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan, allowing investors to access global opportunities through a simple, transparent and regulated framework via GIFT City IFSC as a member of India INX.

Now, we are bringing this experience to DhanHQ Trading APIs.

This is built for builders who want to create their own global investing workflows, automate their US investing journeys, build internal tools, or power user-facing products on top of DhanHQ APIs.

With this launch, for the first time, Indian developers, API traders and algo traders can start building their own products, strategies and workflows for global markets, starting with US Stocks, directly on top of APIs.

Until now, most global investing journeys were built for end-investors as finished interfaces. With DhanHQ APIs, we are opening up the infrastructure layer itself, so builders can decide how they want to create, customise and scale their own global market experiences.

And we have designed this to be developer-friendly from day one. Whether you want to check if the US market is open, place an order, modify or cancel it, track order status, view trades, check holdings, calculate margins, estimate charges, or fetch available funds, the core building blocks are now available through DhanHQ APIs. This allows you to build complete workflows instead of stitching together disconnected systems.

We are also working on opening up Data APIs for US Stocks very soon. With this, developers will be able to build strategies, research workflows, dashboards and products with the power of data from Dhan, making the US Stocks API ecosystem even more complete for builders.

You can find the complete API documentation here - Global Stocks on API.

This is just the beginning of Global Stocks on DhanHQ APIs. As always, we will continue building this with your feedback. If you are exploring these APIs, building a workflow, testing a strategy, or thinking of a use case that needs more capabilities, we would love to hear from you.

Your feedback has shaped DhanHQ over the years, and it will continue to shape what we build next.

Happy Building!

Hi Kushagra,

Great news. I use the domestic Trading APIs (GET /trades, GET /trades/{from_date}/{to_date}, GET /holdings, GET /positions) for a personal project, and wanted to check a few things before integrating US Stocks:

  1. Will US Stocks trades/holdings be served via these same endpoints, or through a separate endpoint namespace (different instrument IDs, currency fields, etc.)?
  2. Are the US Stocks Trading API endpoints (orders, holdings, trades, funds) free with a trading account like the domestic Trading APIs, or gated behind a paid tier?
  3. When Data APIs for US Stocks launch, will they fall under existing free-tier rate limits or a new pricing structure?

Would really help in planning. Thanks!

You asked for it on the API โ€” and here it is. :united_states:

When US Stocks & ETFs first went live on Dhan, a couple of you immediately asked the builderโ€™s question: can we do this through the API too?

@sudheer and @vinay_rana8727 โ€” you asked this directly, and this one genuinely goes out to you. :raising_hands:

US Stocks & ETFs are now live on DhanHQ Trading APIs. Place, modify and cancel orders, track status and trades, pull holdings, margins, charges and funds, and check market status โ€” the building blocks to automate your own global investing workflows, exactly the way you already build for Indian markets.

This has always been the heart of DhanHQ: you tell us what you want to build, and we open up the infrastructure so you can build it. Data APIs for US Stocks are next. :rocket:
