In Option trader strategy builder, how to get PNL as per CMP , not as per Target price? pls suggest.
Hi @S_J_MITRA, Welcome To MadeForTrade Community!
We understand your requirement and we have your feedback on this to show CMP under PnL table.
@Mohseen_Usmani I think its a “bug” as the Target is automatically set. Can you share the flow where I can change the “Target“? This is happening for Index, Commodities, Stocks and Futures. Can you please explain as to why is the “Target“ set when while adding the derivative, there is no way to set the “Target“.
@Mohseen_Usmani Any updates on this issue?
Hi @nitishbangera, the target price is calculated based on the inputs in the ‘Adjustments’ tab. When the user changes the target from spot or target date, it would automatically change the target price. PFA screenshot.
Also, P&L based on LTP is in development and would be launched in one of the upcoming releases
@Mohseen_Usmani As mentioned clearly in my previous comment, the strategy put in was fresh and no adjustments were made. Still the target was put by default. In the earlier strategy builder, the current LTP was the target and it seems some new updates have put this unnecessary target calculation by default. Can you please revert back to the old mechanism which was the correct version?
@Mohseen_Usmani @Dhan Any updates on this issue? With the new target set, the Strategy Builder isn’t helping with testing strategies.
Hey @nitishbangera, we’ve noted this and it will be updated within this week.
Hi @nitishbangera, P&L based on LTP has been updated on the P&L table.
@Mohseen Usmani…Thanks 4 the update.
@Jai_Supreeth I just added a new position and the tool sets the target automatically.
No adjustments done. Just plain option add with the toggle on “Target“.
@dhan Are we going to get the series of back testing the Algo strategies by Imran sir? Please can you update on that as we are waiting to learn that so can build a better performing strategy.
Hi @nitishbangera, you can set exit price manually, just click on the three dots below the screenshots for reference.
And from the same path you can reset the same.
@Mohseen_Usmani I am very much aware that I can set “Exit price“ but please for once understand that it’s not my query. Just like the name says “Exit price“ will exit my position but I use the Strategy builder to check a strategy and currently as the “Target price“ is set automatically, it has an initial premium which makes the PnL misleading. I am not sure why the toggle of “Current“ is given because the PnL doesn’t move at all. Probably I am not using it correctly but anyway I feel the “Target“ version is the correct one.
To detail out how the older Strategy builder worked, whenever we add an option, the PnL started from the premium when the option was added which is the “Entry Price“. Then in the PnL, we had LTP which is the current premium and it moved when the user clicks “Reset“ and accordingly the PnL moved. The table also had “Exit Price“ which is set in the same manner as the current which closes the position and hence it doesn’t take part in the strategy further. Adding “Exit price“ was very user friendly earlier as the user didn’t had go to each position, click three dots. It was via a toggle in the left panel where we build the strategy which opens up the “Exit Price“ tab for all positions and the user could choose to enter in any.
To be honest the previous Strategy Builder was really good. It needed just a few additions, to see all saved strategy in a list and POP for a strategy. Dhan added the “Saved Strategy“ list and “POP“ but messed up the already good Strategy Builder.
Hi @nitishbangera, as discussed over the call, we understand your requirements. We have replicated this on multiple devices and found that when toggled to ‘current’, LTP updates in real time. Please find the screen recording attached for reference.

If you are still facing any difficulty with LTP fluctuations, kindly share your convenient time so we can address this via a video meet.
@Mohseen_Usmani As mentioned during the call, it doesn’t work for me. Well in my investigation of the “Current“ toggle, you can still get the PnL to move by a simple hack i.e. add a position and then change the strike price of the added position. This hack will change the LTP and accordingly get the PnL in the “Current“ toggle mode to show up.
Anyway thank you for spending time on this issue and there is no need for a video meet as I have tried to explain the issue clearly. If it cannot be replicated on your end then I believe a video meet won’t be of much help.
