Regarding Import of External Mutual Fund Portfolio other than Dhan

Now dhan MF’s reflecting after one hour of updating the app but no External MF’s are fetched.

@Radhika
Demat MF holdings don’t show up in external mutual funds. Groww can fetch external mutual fund in demat too. Please explore this angle.

Also just as a suggestion - under the normal MF tab in portfolio itself create a partition to include external funds. Right now it just adds new tab altogether. Like under MF tab on Portfolio starting with Investments on Dhan then Investment outside Dhan…
Also if possible please allow option to customise the order of tabs in Portfolio. @PravinJ @shraddha

Hi @Pankaj_Kumar4 Thank you for your feedback.
With external Mutual Fund tracking on Dhan, we want to build an experience that feels more integrated and seamless for users who are actively investing here. By making Dhan your primary investment hub, not only do you get the advantage of tracking your entire portfolio, but you also benefit from a holistic view across your investments in a single place. By investing through Dhan, we can manage your folios more efficiently, and this enables us to provide you with a smoother experience, with end-to-end support and insights across your investments in one place. We’re always open to feedback and working on improvements, so thank you once again.

@svineels @Pradumya Thanks for highlighting and sharing your feedback. We’re working on a quick fix and soon you’ll be able to ee your external Demat MFs on Dhan as well.

That reply sounded like something which only sounds good for marketing, you didn’t say a word about the technical problem I mentioned in my message.
I am a developer myself, and correct me if I am wrong but you are using MfCentral API to fetch all existing portfolio.
So let me ask this again in more straightforward way.

Why should I use Dhan app for Mutual funds, If I can’t import my existing Portfolio first and start SIP in existing Folio ?

Hi @svineels and @Pradumya you should now be able to view your external demat MFs once you initiate the process again. Let us know if there’s any issue and we’ll help you out with the same.

Hi @Radhika
2 more points to consider

  1. I use Groww as my primary app for MF. It also offers redemption option(for SoA funds only) for external mutual funds thru MFCENTRAL. Currently external mutual funds on Dhan is just view only which isn’t much beneficial.
  2. On Groww I can also see the transaction history of external mutual fund which is not available in Dhan.

Also one last query, if I Invest via Dhan in an external fund then will it create a new folio or continue with the existing folio that’s fetched?

Yes. Able to see them now.
Will insights be available for external MF’s as well in future? Right now it’s only for Dhan MF’s.

@Pradumya @svineels This is just the initial phase for External MF tracking on Dhan, and we’re already working to bring in additional features like redemption, switching, and transaction history for external MFs.

To address your questions: the Insights feature is currently available only for investments made on Dhan, ensuring a more tailored experience for Dhan users. And as for folios, creating new ones helps us manage your orders more effectively, allowing us to provide you with a seamless experience and complete support across all your investments. Hope this helps

Hi @Radhika
I am still not able to import my mutual funds as it says that feature is locked. Could you please check that for me?

Dear Dhan Team,

Thank you for enabling Mutual Fund investing and tracking of external Mutual Funds on the Dhan platform.

Today, I began shifting my SIPs from Paytm Money to the Dhan Platform and initiated 5 SIPs. More SIPs will be transferred from Paytm Money to Dhan in the coming days.

However, I am facing an issue with the tracking of external Mutual Funds. The data is currently showing incorrectly, and I believe I understand the cause. After setting up my SIPs on the Dhan Platform, I started consolidating one of my Nippon Mutual Fund folios through MFCentral. I plan to consolidate additional folios in the future for easier management.

Yesterday, I completed the consolidation of the Nippon Growth Fund - Growth - Direct folio.

Suggested Solution:
After consolidating a Mutual Fund folio, the amount and units should appear under the main Dhan Mutual Fund section, as the distributor has been set to Dhan for all associated amounts and units for the Nippon Growth Fund - Growth - Direct. Alternatively, any units from previous investments should still be visible under External Mutual Fund tracking.

Currently, these units are not visible in either the main Dhan Mutual Fund section or the External Mutual Fund tracking. Since I plan to continue consolidating multiple mutual fund folios, I kindly request that you look into a solution to accurately reflect these consolidated folios on the Dhan platform.

Until a proper resolution is in place, I will not proceed with further another consolidation of mutual fund folios.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a resolution.

Complete mail with Folio numbers (Source + Target both ) and Amount sent at help@dhan.co

Thanks,
