Sensex, Nifty extend losing streak to fifth week; touch three-month low

FII selling continued for the fourth consecutive week, albeit at a slower pace, with foreign investors offloading equities worth Rs 1,795.19 crore during the week. Meanwhile, DIIs remained supportive, buying equities worth Rs 6,419.46 crore.

Indian equity benchmarks remained under pressure in the week ended September 11, extending their losing streak to the fifth consecutive week and hitting a three-month low amid heightened volatility. Rising crude oil prices on escalating US-Iran tensions, a weaker rupee and continued foreign fund outflows weighed on sentiment, while sustained buying by domestic institutional investors helped limit the downside.
