As you may be aware that Cyber Crimes in India are on a rise, and there have been many cases where not just ordinary citizens but many smart, well educated and learned professionals have become victims of such scams.
With time these scams have also gotten sophisticated and evolved from money transfers, faking identity, phishing, ransomware and so on. These scams now come in multiple forms and formats, few of them that have gotten very popular and are/were in news or on social media - UPI based payment requests, fake Banking Login websites, Chinese loan apps, Online Virtual games, OTP based delivery of goods, and so on.
A very recent trend of scams that target individuals interested in Stock Markets, Investing, Trading, including ones that assure investment returns and for that reason asking unsuspecting individuals to transfer money for the same purpose are coming up faster. These fraudulent activities are done by cloning (making duplicate) websites and apps of popular Stock Trading platforms, and/or by creating fake groups on popular messaging apps like WhatsApp / Telegram and/or creating fake social media accounts on platforms like X, Instagram, Facebook, etc and/or creating fake profiles impersonating employees and officers of Stock Broking entities.
While we believed that Dhan is a very small player and relatively a very new player in the Stock Broking industry, unfortunately we have noticed our websites & apps have been cloned with fraudulent intentions.
It has recently come to our notice that certain unidentified individuals and agencies are engaging in fraudulent activities, falsely claiming association or affiliation with Dhan and assuring returns for investments made through them. They are misusing and misrepresenting our name (Dhan), logo, identity, reputation and officials / employee’s identity to deceive the public with fraudulent intentions. The pattern remains the same where such unidentified individuals and agencies are creating fake websites, apps, and also running services on WhatsApp, Telegram or Social Media claiming to be operated by Dhan or associated with Dhan and asking users to pay for products and services related to payments, investments, loans, and other financial services. We want to clarify that Dhan and its affiliated companies have no connection whatsoever with these individuals and entities.
Furthermore, it is important to clarify that Dhan and its affiliated companies are not involved in consumer services that offer payments, lending, borrowing, or any similar financial activities. We urge all our customers and everyone at large to exercise utmost caution and conduct thorough due diligence before engaging in any financial transactions. Any engagement poses risk of losing money, and it may become extremely complicated or at times impossible to recover from financial losses incurred as result of these scams. While we may have the intention to assist you, many times in such situations it would be beyond our control to help you. In the unfortunate event that you may be victimised by such fraudulent schemes, we urge you to report the matter to the Cybercrime authorities immediately.
Rest assured, Dhan has taken swift and necessary actions to address these fraudulent activities and has duly informed the relevant regulatory authorities including filing of complaints with Cyber Crime officials and issuing take-down notices.
