⚠️ Api Check For Market Status

Can we please have an API endpoint that provides the similar data available on
status-monitor.dhan.co ?

Why this matters

  • Exch → Shows exchange connectivity status (NSE/BSE/MCX across Equity, Derivatives, Currency, Commodities).
  • Order → Order placement system health for each segment.
  • MDS → Market Data System health status.

Value to Traders & Developers

  • Enables real-time monitoring of exchange and order system availability.
  • Helps in algo trading systems to detect connectivity issues and switch/stop trades.
  • Useful for status dashboards, alerts, and risk management systems.

Proposed Feature:
A REST API endpoint, e.g.

GET /api/v2/status/health

This would make it easier for developers and traders to integrate Dhan’s system health data directly into their applications and monitoring workflows.

Hi Team, just following up on this request

Having an API for the status-monitor data would be really valuable for traders and developers. Right now, this information is only available on the webpage, but being able to fetch it programmatically would allow us to:

Automate exchange/OMS/MDS health monitoring

Build alerts and failover mechanisms for algos

Integrate directly into dashboards & risk systems

Is this something already on the roadmap, or can we expect it to be considered? Would really appreciate any update from the team.

Hi @Bishnoi Well, we had thought of this earlier and skipped it and there are multiple reasons for same…

  1. We now have distributed systems and network, if you hit a response on any of the service - if may be down for you, but not down for everyone. Just today, a very tiny fraction of our users were not able to view watchlist on web, it was available for most.
  2. Unlike other platforms like say Netflix, Instagram or such ones - they do lot of caching and other techniques that we can’t implement as most systems are real-time.
  3. Our own architecture - when u send say a large order like Iceberg, your order is sent through multiple instances, via multiple locations and likes. Again, one of the orders may not go, but others would.
  4. These are potentially real-time systems - we there are bad actors who will query them trying to increase loads or with intention to take them down. We had seen such threats earlier as well.

We had to given this a thought earlier, then dropped it for such reasons.

Am wondering how my active trading clients fall in to the fractional segment many times :face_with_head_bandage:

Dhan web again went down few minutes ago. Today morning also there was some problem. Another community user posted but it was unlisted. @PravinJ please make bug fixing the top priority…

Hi @t7support, such occurrences are extremely rare, and our team is actively monitoring the situation to ensure it doesn’t happen again going forward. The Dhan Web is now working as expected.

Alternatively, you can use Dhan App to manage your positions.

This is the third time it is happening from 4th sep. Not rare…:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Active traders like me keep catching bugs at Dhan. Some were fixed. Some have been pending for multiple years now.

Hi Team,

I noticed a bug on the Options WEB Dhan Positions Page. The sorting feature for P&L and % Change hasn’t been working for the past few days.

Interestingly, the same functionality works fine on the web.dhan.co Positions Page, so it seems specific to the Options WEB platform.

Could you please look into this issue?

Thanks!

Hi @Bishnoi, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will optimise this by this weekend.

@Mohseen_Usmani

Noticed it was working during the trading hours today… THANKS
