Custom Algo Strategies in DhanHQ Platform

Requesting the addition of a “Custom Strategy “ section where users can create and deploy their own algo trading strategies, similar to Zerodha Streak. This feature would enable users to build and run strategies without coding or maintaining static IPs, as DhanHQ is directly integrated with the Dhan platform.

Below are the key use cases and requirements:

  1. Custom/User-Defined Strategies
    Ability for users to create and manage their own trading strategies.

  2. Backtesting Support
    Users should be able to backtest strategies using historical data before deployment.

  3. Support for All Dhan TV Indicators & Chart Types
    The strategy builder should support all available indicators and chart types currently available in Dhan TV.

  4. Flexible Strategy Deployment Duration
    Deployment options such as:

    • 1 Week

    • 1 Month

    • 1 Year

    • Never Expire (runs continuously during market hours)

  5. Support Across All Segments
    Strategies should work across all trading segments, including:

    • Cash

    • Derivatives

    • Commodities

    • Others

  6. Real-Time Alerts & Notifications
    Notifications should be triggered for all important events, such as:

    • Strategy deployed/live

    • Trade executed

    • Position closed

  7. Alert / Signal Generator
    In addition to automated order placement, the platform should also support alert-only strategies for users who want to test conditions or receive signals without executing trades automatically.

  8. Complete Algo Trading Ecosystem Within Dhan HQ
    This feature should provide a full-fledged algo trading setup directly within the Dhan HQ platform, eliminating the need for external APIs or third-party integrations.

Mohit here — founder of Stratzy. We’re one of DhanHQ’s algo partners currently powering black-box strategies for Dhan users.

Firstly, this is exactly where retail algo trading is headed, and your breakdown is pretty much the future-state product vision for the industry.

Most users today are stuck between two extremes:

  • either no-code black box algos with limited customization

  • or highly technical APIs that require coding/backtesting infra knowledge

That middle layer — where traders can create, test, deploy, and iterate their own strategies without needing institutional-level infrastructure — is what’s missing.

@bhandarimohit Stratzy is good and I believe most users would enjoy but in terms of principles, having a blackbox strategy execution platform is very similar to the Stock tips network. I would love to be part of the Stratzy platform but not knowing what is being executed is a big problem. I agree with the content in this thread i.e. having a Custom Strategy and paying it to have it executed with backtesting and forward testing(dummy trades) would be something that a user like me would pay for. I hope Stratzy pivots to Custom Strategy mode soon which would be really good.
