Data API plans changed? 200 market depth available only in new plan?

So, do we now have to migrate to the new Pro Traders plan to get 200-level market depth? The regular Data API plan only provides 20 levels now? That’s really unfair! When I originally subscribed to the Data API plan, 200-level market depth was included. You can’t just change the plan features like this without any proper notice or explanation. What happened to the features we originally paid for?image

Dhan, Please Reconsider the New API Pricing and Data Tiers

This move is disappointing and, frankly, difficult to justify in its current form.

I am highly concerned about the newly introduced API data tiers and the proposed restructuring of API services. Introducing such significant changes mid-month, without adequate explanation or clarity, is an unfair way to treat a community of traders who rely on these APIs for their trading systems.

I hope dhan_api_team will reconsider this revision or, at the very least, provide a detailed explanation of what each new tier offers and why access to 200-depth market data is being restricted.

A few questions need clear answers:

1. What happens to existing subscriptions?

Many of us have already paid ₹499 at the beginning of this month. If 200-depth data now requires a higher-tier subscription, what happens to the subscription fees we have already paid? Will existing subscribers retain their current access until the end of the billing cycle, or are we expected to pay again to continue using a feature we have already subscribed to?

2. What is the actual value of the additional features?

Technical data, market movers, news headlines and fundamentals are being presented as part of the new offering. However, much of this information is already available through publicly accessible sources, websites, ScanX and data that traders can derive from existing API feeds.

If these features offer something genuinely new, differentiated or valuable, Dhan needs to explain exactly what that is. Simply bundling readily available information into a higher-priced tier does not, by itself, justify the change.

3. Why restrict 200-depth data?

For serious API traders, market depth is an important input for analysing liquidity, order-book dynamics and market behaviour. If access is being restricted, the technical and commercial rationale behind that decision deserves to be communicated transparently.

4. What is the status of CAS-related changes?

The inclusion of CAS in the API documentation raises further questions. The implications of the regulatory revisions and any corrections expected by the end of the month remain unclear. Greater clarity on what is changing, what data will be provided and when the changes will take effect would be helpful.

The market is already an extremely challenging environment for traders. Transaction costs and other charges are significant, and every additional expense affects the viability of a trading strategy. API traders also invest considerable time and resources in building systems around the infrastructure Dhan provides.

Dhan should be strengthening its relationship with this community, not making it more challenging and uncertain to build on its platform.

I urge the team to reconsider the proposed changes, honour existing subscriptions for their full billing period, clearly explain the rationale behind the new tiers and provide a transparent transition plan before implementing any restrictions.

API traders deserve clarity, predictability and fair treatment.

I would request the Dhan team to reconsider this change and restore 200-level market depth to the existing Data API plan. The new Pro Traders plan could instead include the additional API features and capabilities that Dhan is introducing. This would allow existing subscribers to retain the features they originally signed up for while giving new users the option to upgrade for the enhanced offerings.

@Dhan @Hardik First I appreciate bringing new features in api like newsfeed api, corporate etc.. I know dhan listen to its users need better and attend promptly. Its my request as a customer to look into data api pricing, already kite zerodha made api free for traders with brokerage charges paid more than 2000, I felt a good news we can expect from dhan at coming times but present structure need to be looked into once for review and chamges. This is a request i am raising from traders point of you.

Hi @chakkyatth @parithi @Rem_555 ,
Yes, we have built new APIs for data and it is being rolled out in phase. The new API will include Live News, Live CAS Feed, Technical Indicators, Fundamental Data, Market Movers etc.. All these new APIs will be a part of new tier called “Data API For Pro Traders”. This new tier also includes Full market depth.
Users with an active Data API plan will continue to have access to Full Market Depth until 15th November. After this date, Full Market Depth on API will be available exclusively on the Data API for Pro Trader Plan.
This gives everyone currently subscribed time to complete their cycle and evaluate the new plan before the last date.
We appreciate all the feedback in this thread. Thanks

I am on yearly subscription. My subscription ends on 18th May, 2027. Will i have access to full 200 level market depth till ONLY 15th Nov,2026 or till end of my subscription? Kindly advise @Kushagra_Rohatgi

Hi @parithi ,

Your yearly Data API subscription stays active until 18th May 2027, with all other Data API features continuing as before.

Full Market Depth on API will be available to all existing Data API subscribers, including those on yearly plans, until 15th November 2026. After this date, it will be available exclusively on the Data API for Pro Traders plan.

If Full Market Depth is important to your setup, the Data API for Pro Traders plan includes it along with the new APIs: Live News, Live CAS Feed, Technical Indicators, Fundamental Data and Market Movers. So if you want to continue using Full Market Depth post 15th November 2026, we would suggest you to subscribe the Pro Plan.

The good part is that If you choose to upgrade to Data API for Pro Traders, the unused balance on your current plan will be adjusted on a pro rata basis. The money you’ve already paid goes toward the new plan

When I purchased my yearly Data API subscription, 200-level market depth was explicitly part of the plan. This was one of the features included in the offering I paid for, and I subscribed with that understanding. It is disappointing and unacceptable to see this feature being removed during my active subscription period.

Honestly, this feels unprofessional and unfair to existing customers who have already paid for the service based on the original offering. Changing plan features mid-subscription and effectively forcing customers to upgrade to a more expensive plan to retain access to a feature they originally paid for is not the kind of customer experience I would expect from Dhan.

:-1: What makes this situation even worse is that there is no option to cancel the subscription. Customers are left with no reasonable alternative: either accept the loss of a feature that was included in their original plan or pay extra to upgrade to the Pro Traders plan. Being unable to cancel while simultaneously being pushed towards a more expensive plan is particularly unfair to existing subscribers.

I request the Dhan team to reconsider this decision and retain 200-level market depth in the existing Data API plan for subscribers who have already paid for it. The new Pro Traders plan could offer the additional APIs and features being introduced without taking away features from existing subscribers.

Customers should not be forced to pay more to retain a feature that was part of the plan they originally purchased, especially when they have no option to cancel. I hope Dhan will take this feedback seriously and adopt a more transparent and customer-friendly approach. @Kushagra_Rohatgi
