Delivery to MTF conversion

I want to understand if Dhan would allow Delivery to MTF conversion at some stage. I have following use case in mind as a systematic trader.

I have strategies which can take up to Rs. 170 exposure for Rs. 100 capital I have. However, this exposure is not consistent and varies between 0% - 170% based on market conditions and average exposure is ~Rs 90. I want to make sure I do not incur MTF interest when my capital is sufficient but not miss opportunities where increased exposure is required. So, I would like to free up the capital using MTF when such opportunities crop up.

Admittedly, I do not understand MTF fully, so please let me know if such feature already exists or if same can be achieved through other means.

Thanks.

Hi @irrational.mind ,

Happy to share that something on these lines will be live soon. You will be able to convert your shares to MTF from other product types & vice versa shortly.

Thanks,

Thanks Pranita, just to confirm, I have some delivery stock in my demat from past few days of purchase, can I convert it in to MTF?

Tried searching in both mobile and Dhan web.

Hi @Anushka_Sen, welcome to MadeForTrade!

please refer below announcement for detailed info

Hi Mohseen

I had a query regarding the conversion of existing delivery holdings to MTF.
Specifically, I’m referring to stocks that are already part of my portfolio, not new purchases or open positions.

Is it possible to convert these to MTF as of today?

Thanks

Hey @jaison ,

Only open positions can be converted to and from MTF. MTF holdings can be converted to delivery but vice versa is not possible .

Thanks,
Pranita

Hi im using icici direct for pay later(MTF) since long time and there is an option in mtf position “ADD MARGIN” is what if i purchase an share with mtf i,e 10000rs per share i used to pay 2500 and remaining funded by icici ,if i add margin as 2000 by a week to that position then my initial margin will be 4500 by this method adding more margin constineously atlast if i added my margin continues till 9500 and i convert that position into delivery by paying remaining money.

And this also reducing the risk of auto square off th3 position due to margin shortfall.

Any possibility can we do same in dhan

Hi @Balasv52 Thank you for sharing your experience.

With Dhan, you can achieve something similar, you can add funds to your trading account at any time and partially convert from your MTF position by following below path:
Dhan App > Portfolio Tab > Stocks > MTF > Convert to Delivery
