Hi, are there any plans to make the Dhan DataAPI available for free (currently 499/- per month)? Similar to Breeze ICICIDirect API which is basically free of any monthly charge. I have unsubscribed from Dhan DataAPI due to monthly charges and currently modifying my code to make use of the Breeze API which is free of cost. Thanks!
Hi @saurabha213 Well, we charge INR 499 per month on Data APIs to avoid misuse of our infrastructure. It is a minimal charge, while some of industry leaders have charged INR 2000 per month, AMC Charges, platform charges and/or likes.
We have always stated that we offer more value to our users than compete on price. Dhan Trading APIs give you - 20 Depth Data on API, Option Chain Streams more data that normal, trading capabilities like Fast Iceberg, MTF on API, Super Orders, Trader Controls, and likes.
As mentioneding, keeping the price minimal helps us keep abuse of infrastructure at bay. Else, we rarely add any charges apart from brokerage, that too on trading.

Hello @PravinJ Sir, honored to receive your prompt reply—truly appreciate it. I completely understand your concerns. However, IMHO, it feels a bit unfair to charge regular users—those with legitimate Dhan accounts who actively trade using the Dhan platform and API—due to misuse by a few bad actors.
I fully agree that infrastructure abuse needs to be addressed, and I’m confident your expert technical team could implement AI-based controls to mitigate such issues effectively. Of course, I leave the final decision in your capable hands. As mentioned earlier, competitor APIs like Breeze are free to use. However, adapting my algo to their structure is quite cumbersome—especially for features like the option chain, tick-by-tick data, and OHLC etc. This is mainly because I’ve built everything based on the excellent insights from Dhan’s Advanced Algo series.
I’d really love to return to using the Dhan DataAPI and hope you might consider reducing or waiving the monthly fee for active users like myself.
