:briefcase: Types of Mutual Funds and Their Performance

:bar_chart: Key Highlights and Unique Observations:

  • Equity Funds: Recorded a significant increase, closing at ₹31.10 lakh crore in AUM, which is 46% of the industry’s total AUM. This growth is propelled by strong inflows and New Fund Offers (NFOs), particularly in sectoral/thematic funds.

  • Debt Funds: Despite outflows in short-term schemes due to seasonal tax obligations, long-duration funds have seen substantial inflows, hinting at shifting investor preferences towards longer maturity amid rate cut expectations.

  • Hybrid Funds: Assets in Hybrid Funds have also reached new heights totaling ₹8.75 lakh crore, indicating a preference for balanced investment approaches.

  • Passive Funds: Continued to grow, reaching ₹11.46 lakh crore, with index funds showing significant inflows, highlighting their appeal in uncertain market conditions.

  • Gold ETFs: Amid rising geopolitical tensions and lower yields on US bonds, gold ETFs saw their assets increase by 6.5% in September

  • Corporate Bond Funds: Recorded a remarkable increase in net inflows, rising to ₹5,039 crore from ₹667 crore in the previous month. This surge was likely influenced by recent regulatory changes allowing banks more flexibility in their investments in corporate bonds.

:bulb: SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) Insights

SIPs have achieved a new record with contributions of ₹24,509 crore. The growing number of SIP accounts, now over 9.87 crores, reflects a trend towards disciplined, long-term investment habits.
