Feedback for Watchlist Feature (10 X 10 X 100)

We asked to increase the capacity of each watchlist from 100 to at least 400 or 600. And they increased the capacity to create a greater number of watchlists, but they are not ready to increase the capacity of each watchlist.

We asked for the capability to create groups inside the watchlist similar to that from the original Tradingview platform, which helps us to segregate certain categories of symbols when working through a single watchlist. But Dhan developers gifted us with the ability to create groups of different watchlists.
So ridiculous!

It is only going to make creating and managing so many multiple watchlists more difficult and the overall watchlist experience worse for the users simply because the capacity of each watchlist is strictly limited to only 100.

Personally, I feel it’s going to increase the mess and will be a bigger headache to keep switching first among the groups of watchlists and then again among the watchlists themselves.

No offense to anybody but my personal opinion is that this feature of (10 X 10 X 100) watchlists is the worst feature that the developers have come out with!

Hi @Indian_Trader_007 Yes, we have the feedback on this from other users as well. The discovery of groups is something we haven’t solved for right.

Think we mentioned on few threads earlier - the challenge is not adding more stocks in a watchlist, it is maintaining the speed - we did not want to deliver a sub-par experience. Many users, specially traders love Dhan for its speed - at which the data is rendered on Watchlist, on Charts and also other key components like Portfolio and Positions.

That said, we know we have to solve for this - and we already are in works. We are close to achieving better speeds on large watchlists and hope to bring this to our users sooner.

Finally  :zap:

On that note @Indian_Trader_007, you may notice a FnO Stocks as a new watchlist that has all F&O Stocks.

Well, the feature is good but the export and import features are still pending. The details are here. The discussion and issue are lost. The main problem with the groups is that there is no way to migrate an already created watchlist in a default group to a new group.

I hope it gets resolved along the way  . Till then Google Sheet with multiple tabs and GoogleFinance to the rescue.

@nitishbangera Just a while back, PJ said that they are trying to solve it better instead of the existing system. Fingers crossed.

@thisisbanerjee I hope it’s solved to get better without any corner cases and any more comments on the topic  I have 4 pairs of Fingers crossed and a pair of Thumbs crossed for it

Is it possible to create a similar Ready-Made system generated list of MTF stocks and include it in our watchlist panel?
So then we can scan the charts of only those specific stocks from the list whenever we want to trade with MTF facility, instead of planning a trade on a random stock and then checking whether that stock is available for MTF trading.

It’s a simple 2-step process: If you want to trade a stock, just bookmark the Dhan MTF list webpage, type the scrip name, and you’ll find it.

Alternatively, you can also see it mentioned right beside the stock name on Dhan Web and mobile app.

I don’t think it is possible to put it in a watchlist because Dhan has now 1600 to 1800+ stocks on MTF, probably the most exhaustive list in the industry.

It’s really good to know that Dhan team is already aware of their watchlist problems and limitations and that they are already working towards improving it.

Just a few suggestions and recommendations and our expectations about the watchlist for Dhan team to consider if they find these logical.

If Dhan team wants to retain the Grouping feature of watchlists then a few modifications should be considered as follows:

First of all, creating groups of watchlists should be made optional and not compulsory by default for every user. If someone does not want to create any groups and just wants to keep a long list of all the watchlists then it should be possible.

The capacity of each group should be flexible and not restricted to 10 watchlists strictly for each group. The total number of watchlists that Dhan wants to allow to create is up to them.

There is no option to delete a group preserving or transferring the watchlists inside that particular group. When we delete a group, all the watchlists also get deleted.

The groups do not synchronize on tv.Dhan.co platform. In fact, we do not see any such groups there. We only see a long list of all the watchlists which we have created in the web trader or TV.Dhan and that too only from the Default group. We do not see any other watchlists created in groups other than Default group. This is really strange and annoying.

Watchlists: When it comes to putting a name or heading for the watchlist we have only 16 characters to choose a suitable name which I felt was little too restricted while naming the watchlists. We cannot even use any special characters in the name of the watchlists which should be allowed.

We cannot transfer any symbols from one group to another or any watchlist from one group to another which should be taken care of.

Along with grouping of the watchlists if Dhan also can introduce internal grouping of symbols inside a single watchlist like Zerodha, Interactive brokers or even the original Tradingview platform itself then it would be icing on the cake.

And last but not least as everybody is screaming around to increase the capacity of each watchlist to at least 500 to 600 so that the largest possible list of Nifty 500 or a complete list of all the available Current and the Next month futures contracts should be accommodated in a single watchlist then the watchlist experience would become really great as it would reduce our requirements to switch among different watchlists and different groups frequently.
The number of watchlists and the number of symbols per watchlists will always be desired as maximum as possible by different users based on individual use case scenarios. So, it’s up to Dhan team how much capacity do they increase per watchlist in their upcoming updates for their users. Hope the improved version is released sooner so then we can start thinking about even newer features with watchlists and display of symbols inside the watchlist.

I have this kind of watchlist in my Tradingview platform which I use for scanning the charts and my everyday analysis of stocks and their Futures contracts.

This kind of watchlist is very convenient for me to quickly open the underlying stock chart and immediately if I want I can open the front or even the next futures chart to identify a most suitable level to plan my trade without switching over or fiddling around with different watchlists in the watchlist panel and I can give my full concentration and focus on the charts only which I feel is very crucial.

Following are the screenshots of my Commodities watchlist from MCX India.

The greatest convenience that I feel is I am able to accommodate all the FnO stocks along with their respective Front and Next Futures contracts in a single watchlist. Only rarely when I need to check the far month future, I need to use the search panel for getting to the chart of specific contract of that future. Otherwise this single watchlist completes my requirement for scanning the charts and planning the trades in any of the FnO stocks or their futures contracts most of the time.
If I can replicate similar watchlists in Dhan it would be a really great and pleasant experience to work with Dhan platform for our trading in NSE and MCX both.
