Hello!
I feel Dhan would do better to have a tie-up with Alpaca rather than Viewtrade, because as I’m getting into the platform’s features and building up my watchlists (US), I came across many many stocks that are actually supported for fractional investing in the US, such as Robinhood and in India with Alpaca, but not with Viewtrade.
Platforms whoever has tied up with Viewtrade is still unable to offer fractional investing on many stocks. I’d appreciate if Dhan looks into this and if possible, also tie up with Alpaca.
Here’s an example of a US stock $CZFS, and what I found with platforms who have tied up with Viewtrade versus platforms who have opted for Alpaca.
Viewtrade Examples (Case Platforms, Dhan): Minimum Order Quantity - 1 whole stock

Alpaca Examples (Upstox, IndMoney)

Hope this can be addressed @PravinJ Thanks!

@MahimaShah Kindly look into this limitation. Thanks!
Hi @banerjee
We have already raised this with ViewTrade. However, similar to how leverage varies from broker to broker in the Indian markets, the availability of fractional shares for US stocks can also vary from broker to broker based on their respective risk policies and guidelines.
That said, we have a practice of reviewing the stock list with them every week and discussing any changes or additions. We’ll raise this with them again and take it up for review.

Hi @MahimaShah
Thanks for looking into this.
Alpaca literally has ALL securities available for fractional investing. Over the past month or so, I’ve been building out the US securities database, and I’ve personally checked thousands and thousands of stocks.
ViewTrade, on the other hand, seems to have an inherent limitation when it comes to fractional shares. Not only that, Alpaca is also in the process of setting up infrastructure for the European market. I’m not sure yet whether that will be limited to the LSE or cover the broader European market.
I highly doubt ViewTrade will introduce fractional investing specifically for Dhan anytime soon. From their perspective, Dhan is still a relatively small revenue source, and they haven’t accommodated many similar requests from their other Indian partners either.
Upstox was sensible enough to go with Alpaca when they launched their international investing offering. In my opinion, Dhan should seriously consider exploring an Alpaca integration as well, because I’d wager that the chances of ViewTrade accommodating fractional investing anytime soon are fairly low.
On top of that, Vested is also setting up its IFSC operations, and their international brokerage arm, VF Securities Inc., supports fractional investing across all stocks.
Given how important fractional investing is becoming for international investors, I think Alpaca is worth seriously considering as an alternative infrastructure partner.
Dhan built its core identity around high-speed execution, modern tech, and developer-first trading (DhanHQ). Sticking with legacy infrastructure like ViewTrade for US Stocks holds that potential back.
ViewTrade has been around for 26 years, but Alpaca is the one with the most momentum and notably most customers as compared to ViewTrade.
Moving to Alpaca is the logical upgrade for three key reasons;
Better Profit Margins: Alpaca generally gives a higher share of commissions to its BaaS partners as compared to ViewTrade.
Native API Performance: Alpaca offers modern REST/WebSocket APIs with 99.9% uptime and sub-millisecond processing, matching Dhan’s lightning-fast philosophy.
Superior Feature Set: True 24/5 extended-hours trading, deeper fractional share liquidity, and seamless programmatic order routing designed specifically for active retail traders.
If Dhan wants its US investing product to feel as fast, seamless, and cost-effective as its domestic Indian trading engine, Alpaca is the partner it needs. @PravinJ
