Healthcare Stocks: Smart Investment or Moral Conflict?

Just wanted to throw this out there and see what others think.

For mutual fund investors, this might not be a big deal — you’re not directly choosing what stocks to buy. But for those of us who invest in individual stocks, especially in the healthcare space, have you ever felt a bit of a moral or emotional dilemma?

I’m talking about the feeling that you’re profiting from someone else’s sickness, pain or suffering. There’s a common saying in our society — “the money you earn unfairly ends up getting spent at the hospital.”

Has anyone here ever hesitated to invest in hospitals, pharma companies, or insurance firms because of this kind of karmic thinking? Or is it just business, like any other sector?

Curious to hear different perspectives. Anyone else thought about this?

In addition, the sin stocks!

How many millions have your society got in the bank?

Never mix up your personal beliefs with business.

Corruption is not specific to any sector or society or a country.

If you find a person or enterprise involved in unfair business practices, does it mean all the people from that sector are corrupt?

You might want to read the topic and replies once more, nothing about corruption was mentioned or discussed. @hachiko

Another way of looking at this is - you profit whilst being a small part of an entity treating sick people…

People get admitted to hospitals to get better after all… imagine if there were no hospitals at all…
