About the Industry in which Hyundai Motor India operates:
The Indian passenger vehicle (PV) industry experienced significant growth, reaching 3.3 million vehicle sales in Fiscal 2019, according to the CRISIL Report. This growth, up until Fiscal 2019, was driven by continuous GDP improvement, higher disposable incomes, new model launches, stable vehicle ownership costs, and increasing demand for SUVs. Between Fiscals 2019 and 2024, domestic PV sales volume in India grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5%, despite a sales contraction of 10% CAGR during Fiscals 2019 to 2021. Passenger vehicle sales rebounded from the low base of Fiscal 2021, growing at a strong pace to reach a historic high of 4.2 million units in Fiscal 2024, as reported by CRISIL. In Fiscal 2024, the company held a market share of 12% in hatchbacks, 22% in sedans, and 18% in SUVs among select OEMs in India, based on volume, according to the CRISIL Report.
