Hello Traders and Investors,
The NSE has recently released an important circular that will impact weekly derivatives trading on certain indices. This announcement comes in response to the SEBI’s initiative to strengthen the equity index derivatives framework for enhanced investor protection and market stability by limiting weekly derivatives to a single benchmark index for each exchange.
Effective 20 November 2024, NSE will discontinue weekly derivatives contracts on the following indices:
- Nifty Bank (BANKNIFTY) - Last trading date: November 13, 2024
- Nifty Midcap Select (MIDCPNIFTY) - Last trading date: November 18, 2024
- Nifty Financial Services (FINNIFTY) - Last trading date: November 19, 2024
The last available weekly index options on BANKNIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY, and FINNIFTY will expire on the aforementioned dates. After this, no new weekly contracts will be introduced for these indices. If you are currently trading (or planning to trade) in any of these weekly index options, you should plan your trades accordingly and adjust your strategies to accommodate this change.
