Introducing: Order Flow on DEXT T3 - The Trading Terminal

What exactly does “buy volume = 1000 at ₹200” mean in Order Flow? Since every trade involves both a buyer and a seller, I’m confused about how buy volume is calculated. Could you explain what this number represents with a simple example?

@Bhavya_Jain

Hello

Can you add below to Dext3 orderflow charts?

  1. BUtton to resize and fit visible candles into the screen. This will reset the zoom also.
Similar to the “A” auto-fit button of Trading view

  2. Column placing of Positions widget is not being saved in Dext3.

Hi Team Dhan,

It is great to have the orderflow charts. Thanks for the feature. I request you to consider the following updates:

  1. Please give historic order flow atleast for about a week, as this would help us to revisit and review the trades
  2. Please give 3 min timeframe as well as I use it to trade intraday

Thank you!

We’ve seen a few questions from community comparing Order Flow numbers on DEXT T3 with other tools — especially around Buy/Sell Volume, Delta, POC and Imbalances.

We’ve shared a detailed breakdown here covering the logic, live vs completed candles, grid settings, value area, imbalance thresholds and how to read these numbers better.

Very insightful and informative

add multi-day order flow please

Not sure if the calculations are wrong for Delta or the data is wrong. Market is moving up Dhan shows -ve Delta. The data on Gocharting is completely different than this. Can you guys cross check other platforms as well please.

Hi @Prakash_JJ, there can be some differences in this data as calculation methods can be different, please read more here: Where does the Order Flow data come from?

@Bharathreddy We have noted your feedback on multi-day order flow charts on T3.

Unable to save below OF settings. Need to change everytime i open DEXT. Can you allow me save this settings permanently.

+1.

Requesting this feature please along with multiday charts and 3 min timeframe.

Thank you!

Looks super cool! Kindly add Value as well in this (Qty × Rate [Premium]) in Crores or Lakhs, as in the case Options , since the price is consistently dropping, we cannot easily relate with volume alone. You can just have the total value displayed below the volume.

@Mohseen_Usmani Do you plan for delta divergence feature ?

@Bhavya_Jain @PravinJ @RahulDeshpande Really glad to see Dhan roll out Footprint, imbalances, POC, VA and VWAP in-house. This is a big step up from what most Indian brokers offer, and it genuinely feels like the team is building for active/volumetric traders, not just ticking a feature box.

Now that this foundation’s there, curious what’s next. On other platforms, a Footprint rollout includes or followed by few more things:

  • Drawable volumetric profiles (custom range, not just fixed session)

  • Speed of tape / candle formation speed

  • Big order bubbles as a visual reference directly on chart

  • DOM heatmap or DOM Surface

If anyone from the team is around, a few things I’m curious about :

Are these a natural next step on top of what you’ve already built, or do they need fairly different infra or exchange bottleneck? Is any of this already in the works, even early stage? And of the four, what feels most doable next, and what’s harder because of exchange data or infra cost?

Not trying to dump a wishlist here, just want to know where to point our patience. Honestly this Orderflow release alone already puts Dhan ahead of most competitors for intraday and tape traders. Good pace.

Being able to analyze and execute in the same platform without tab-switching is a huge workflow win. If Dhan nails orderflow, there’s very little reason to run a separate charting tool alongside it.

Orderflow & volumetric trading have been picking up a lot of visibility on trading social media over the last year or two. More retail folks are getting exposed to this stuff now. Dhan being the first Indian broker to ship this natively is a real head start, feels worth pushing further while it’s still a differentiator and not just table stakes.

Yes I have faced same issue Dext3 order flow data changes for even the historical candles. Today morning when NIFTY JUL FUT was loaded it showed delta for first 5 min candle as around 22K, and next candle -26K.
After some time when i reloaded the data it changed to +36K and -5K respectively. all other later candles data also changed but this is an example.

How can we rely on the Dhan dext3 order flow data, if it changes even for the past timeframes.

Hi @Wraith, Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and encouragement. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the new Order Flow features.

We’ve noted your suggestions around drawable volumetric profiles, tape speed, big order bubbles, and DOM heatmap/surface. These are all features we can build towards, although they are part of a broader roadmap and may take around 2 to 3 months to implement.

@demon.ravi regarding Order Flow historical data, we’ve optimized this behavior in our latest Build 12. Thank you once again for sharing such detailed inputs.

Yeah this one is worth if implemented

@Mohseen_Usmani These snapshots are taken today and still see many issues with the values.

another snapshot will be in next post as new users are not allowed to post more than one pic.

How can historical data change, and if that changes how can we rely on any of the data shown in order flow. One more thing is DEXT terminal is projected as having constant connection unlike the web portal but still it doesn’t refresh values correctly in background, I always have to reload the symbol to get updated data.

@Bhavya_Jain

Could we get a refresh button just like tv.Dhan web version which refreshes the data of order flow chart for same symbol but also maintains the current zoom level. Since right now to see the correct data for just passed candle i need to reload the symbol and then zoom to the last candles which takes away some precious time.

I stopped using as unreliable as of now. The order flow takes years to mature.

Hi. I recently started using Order flow on Dext. It’s adding so much value to me. Thanks for the order flow chart.
In order to further Enhancements, I would like to suggest 2 things here.

  1. Addition of a Ribbon on the bottom showing the Delta and Cum. Delta in tabular form in that ribbon. This will help traders to check the value of delta at one place. Currently it’s given on the bottom of the candle which sometimes create confusion too. (Attaching a AI Generated image for reference. Team could make better than this.
  2. If there are few marking tools like trendline and Box to mark out the Point of control, VaH or Val, that will be definitely help full.
