Dear Traders & Investors,
At Dhan - what features and capabilities we deliver largely come from our users, their feedback and suggestions.
Yes - there have been times where we have been a bit rigid on our stand about certain features. However, in many instances we have given up and built the same for our users - all because we are constantly striving to build for our users and provide them with capabilities to enhance their investing & trading experience. Today’s feature release is one such case.
One such feedback we heard often was: “Can I see my trade summary and charges during the day without waiting for the final contract note?” While our stand has been to wait for settlement from exchanges to happen, we gave in to build this for our users.
So here we are — introducing the Virtual Contract Note on Journal by Dhan.
What is a Virtual Contract Note?
The Virtual Contract Note is your post-trade summary screen available live in your Journal. It gives you a real-time view of all executed trades, with key details like scrip name, quantity, price, brokerage, and associated charges.
Instead of waiting till end-of-day to receive the final e-signed Contract Note over email, you can now monitor your trades and costs throughout the day as they happen.
This feature is designed to provide transparency and accuracy especially for active traders and investors who want to stay on top of their execution and charges.
What information is displayed in the Virtual Contract Note?
Your Virtual Contract Note displays:
- All executed trades for the current day
- Trade details: Stock/scrip name, quantity, price, and segment
- Charges breakdown: Brokerage, taxes, exchange fees, SEBI charges, stamp duty, etc.
You can view this for every segment & exchange you’ve traded in: Equity, F&O or Commodity or be it NSE, BSE or MCX.
Is this the final Contract Note that I will receive?
Not quite. This is a live, post-trade view for quick verification.
- The Virtual Contract Note displays approximate values. For exact trade prices, brokerage, and charges, please refer to the contract note.
We have tried our best to be as close as possible to the final contract note that you receive, we have observed it to be almost right in most cases - except for exchange / external obligations like auctions, and so on.
You’ll find the Virtual Contract Note in Journal > Virtual Contract Note
- Live view of your executed trades and charges
- Easier to review & verify costs during the day
- More transparency in your daily trading activity
- Reduces end-of-day surprises or confusion on fees
- Available for all segments and order types
At Dhan, we don’t just build features. We build what our users want. With Virtual Contract Note, your trade insights are now clearer, faster, and always within reach.
Thank you,
Mahima Shah
