Introducing Watchlist Groups – Now track 10,000+ stocks & scrips with ease on Dhan!

Dear Investors & Traders,

Every new update on Dhan brings us a lot of excitement, especially when many of them are based on the feedback and suggestions we get from our users to make Dhan better via its trading or investing experience.

Watchlists on Dhan have always been a go to feature for most of our users. As a result, it has also received undivided attention from us as we have enhanced the experience with Colour coded Watchlists, Fast Watchlist, Corporate Actions, Scan to Watchlist, Automated Invested Watchlist, FnO watchlist, and many such innovations that you had asked us to build from the time we have gone live.

When we started with Dhan - we also gave you the ability to track 1000+ stocks across 10 watchlists. But we know, for many of you, it wasn’t enough!

You asked for more room i.e. Need more watchlists? Wanted to track more stocks and wanted complete flexibility. So, guess what?

We heard you loud and clear… and we’re here with the most requested feature.

Introducing Watchlist Groups – Now you can track 10,000+ Stocks!

Yes, you read that right. With Watchlist Group, you can now track up to 10,000 stocks on Dhan. Here’s how:

  • Create 10 Groups
  • Each Group can hold 10 Watchlists
  • Each Watchlist can track 100 Stocks

That’s 10 x 10 x 100 = 10,000 Stocks at your fingertips!

Why you’ll love Watchlist Group:

  • Flexibility – Organise your watchlists by sector, theme, strategy, or timeframe.
  • More Tracking – Track everything from largecap to microcap, from ideas to execution.
  • Smooth Management – Rename, reorder, custom sort, and manage your groups with ease.
  • Made For All Types of Users – Whether you’re a swing trader, long-term investor, or market explorer— this is made for you.

How to use Watchlist Group on the Dhan App

  1. Go to your Watchlist as usual.
  2. On the top-right, tap the Group Watchlist icon.
  3. See all your Groups or create a new Group instantly.
  4. Inside each Group, create your Watchlists like before.
  5. Add stocks to each list, up to 100 per Watchlist.
  6. Want to view another Group? Just tap the icon and switch.
  7. Open Settings in Watchlist to manage your Groups – reorder, rename, custom sort, or add new ones.
  8. Long-press any stock to manage your Watchlist just like before.

We are live with it on both Dhan App & Dhan Web

A Few Things to Know:

  • All your current Watchlists are now part of the Default Group
  • Invested and FnO Watchlists will remain in this Default Group and cannot be moved or deleted.
  • Maximum limit of 100 stocks per Watchlist still applies
  • Groups cannot be merged or transferred, but can be easily managed and renamed

Nicely done @MahimaShah @Dhan - I have something that needs clarity though. Say I want to bulk add stocks from ScanX to my watchlists:

(1) I don’t find the option of new groups to add on ScanX. Only the Default group remains visible on ScanX.
(2) The groups don’t work on Dhan TV currently.

I’d appreciate a response on these 2 points. Thanks!

Hi @thisisbanerjee

  1. As you rightly pointed out, on ScanX, only your default group/watchlist will be visible for now. Integration with group watchlist is on our roadmap and will be available soon.
  2. For Dhan TV, Group Watchlists are supported.
    Just follow these steps:
Go to User Settings > Watchlist > Select or Create the group you wish to view.
Once done, you’ll see all the watchlists under that group on the side panel. You can also add new watchlists from there.

Note: To view a specific group’s watchlist, ensure it’s selected in User Settings.

Appreciate the quick revert @MahimaShah Can this be brought under the watchlists list by any chance? Or maybe, making it more accessible in fewer clicks? Thanks!

Hello @MahimaShah, Groups is a good feature, but the limitation of moving the watchlist across groups is a deal-breaker. All the previously created watchlists would need to be manually created in the new group, which is a tedious process. This feature is good for watchlists that are going to be created freshly.

Regarding Groups on tv.dhan.co, the left panel doesn’t group the watchlists. The view is still the same as the previous one, where you see all watchlists without showing which group they belong.

Hi @thisisbanerjee

We’ll evaluate this and work towards making the experience more seamless.

Hi @nitishbangera

If you’d like to move your existing watchlist to a different group, you can use features like Import (available on Web & Tv) or Scan Watchlist to simplify the process and avoid manual effort.

For Dhan TV, select the group you want to view from User Settings. The watchlists under that group will appear on the side panel. Changing the group updates the list accordingly. You can view which group a watchlist belongs to from User Settings.

Hello @MahimaShah Thank you for pointing out the UserSettings. As a suggestion, another drop-down in the left panel would have been simple and faster. Regarding moving, can you include an export feature so that it complements the Import?

Hi @nitishbangera

You can download your watchlist as CSV from the bottom of the watchlist on the web platform

Hello @MahimaShah

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried to do it where I downloaded the CSV and tried to import the same CSV. The import tool just goes on forever in an endless loop without completing. When I inspected the Network tab, the API ScanWatchlist times out.

Can you please check this issue?

how to see corporate action and colour coded in dhan tv,pls guide

@Dhan @MahimaShah Any update on this issue?

Hi @nitishbangera, thank you for highlighting this, we are checking this with our team and we will update you soon.

Hi @nitishbangera, Currently, our system supports identifying and adding up to 100 scrips in a single uploaded .csv file.

If you’re uploading fewer than 100 scrips and still encountering a timeout or the import tool getting stuck, we’d request you to share the details (including the file and any screenshots) by emailing us at help@dhan.co from your registered email ID. Our team will be happy to look into it and assist you further.

Hello @Mohseen_Usmani, As I mentioned, I used Dhan’s export feature for a watchlist, which downloaded a CSV file that I tried to import. The watchlist had 28 scrips, as I believe Dhan doesn’t allow manual addition of 100 scripts into a watchlist as well. Can you tell me what went wrong? I had sent the screenshot of 504 on the URL ScanWatchlist in my previous message. If you can check the web server logs, you could trace the issue down to your watchlist service.

Hi Team @Dhan @PravinJ @MahimaShah @RahulDeshpande
I have following feature request for watchlist

Notes : Now the Notes will deep inside Click Stock details → Smart Invest - > Final is Notes here whatever we have write its time taking process and also re visit also time will be taken.

Request : In watchlist there is 3 dots if we click that there is a dropdown and Kindly add Notes options so I can directly write the notes and its appear below of the Stock. it will greatly helpful for all the trader.

Outcome: Time will be reduced significantly people write notes actively and We will never miss our Notes when its appear on Watchlist.

Thank you for your kind time and Consideration

This is absolutely brilliant, Thank you

Hi @Dhan, thanks to your team that now zerodha also launched this feature now on their kite web. And to be frank, Zerodha’s group feature seems more intuitive and user-friendly with many customisations and pre-defined watchlists.

  1. Dhan features the watchlists within a group whereas zerodha features the groups within a watchlist.
  2. We can move the scripts or watchlists from one group to another in zerodha but it is missing in dhan.
  3. Ready made watchlists etc.,

This post is not to criticize the dhan feature but throwing some light on its improvisation.

@PravinJ though dhan stands first in bringing industry first features but they lack many customisations in the initial stage itself. My sincere request to @Dhan team is though it take more time for any new feature launch, bring it fully packed so that it doesnt require multiple enhancements further.

@Dhan are there any updates on this issue? Is there any other way I can raise an issue and track it as well?
