One thing I often think about is treating trading like a business. In any business, you expect some expenses and losses before becoming profitable. But in option trading, if you start with limited capital, every losing streak directly reduces your ability to continue operating.
After a series of losses, it’s not just the capital that suffers—your psychology, confidence, and trust in your strategy also take a hit. Eventually, there may not even be enough capital left to take the next valid setup, even if your strategy has a positive edge over the long run.
So how should traders with limited capital approach trading as a business? How much drawdown or “business expense” should be considered acceptable before adding more capital or stepping back? I’d like to hear how experienced traders manage this challenge.
