Dear Dhan Support Team,

I am using Dhan API for order placement, and I would like to clarify whether market orders are allowed for API/algo trading under the current SEBI rules or Dhan’s platform restrictions.

I am seeing confusion about whether market orders are fully supported, restricted, or rejected in certain cases. Please confirm:

  1. Whether market orders are allowed through Dhan API for equity and options.

  2. If market orders are restricted for algo/API trading, what is the recommended order type.

  3. If there are any specific symbols, segments, or conditions where market orders are not allowed.

  4. Whether this is due to SEBI compliance, broker policy, or exchange restrictions.

You can use MARKET as an order type on Dhan, but the same orders will be converted to LIMIT orders at our end, as per the regulations discussed here - Now Live: API Regulatory Changes on DhanHQ.
