Mutual funds when sold from demat incur dp charges of around ₹15. How is it calculated ?
Is it per scheme per day or per scheme per sell order per day ?
if i sell 2 units of a same fund but at different times of the day then will i incur the dp charges twice or only once ?
Additionally, is there a way you pull this dp charge (exact amount) directly from my bank account whenever required instead of me loading money into trading account ?
Also, if i sell mf in SOA format then wil this charge still incur ?
Hi @krishag, DP charges are levied by the depository at ₹12.50 per instruction per ISIN, plus GST. On Dhan, this is lower compared to the industry standard, which is usually around ₹20–₹25.
For mutual funds held in demat form, DP charges are applied per sell order. This means if you place multiple sell orders for the same mutual fund scheme on the same day, DP charges will be applied for each sell order separately, even if the scheme is the same.
If you sell mutual funds held in SOA (non-demat) format, DP charges are not applicable.
Currently, DP charges cannot be directly debited from your bank account and need to be available in your trading ledger.
Regarding your suggestion for conditional auto-pay features, such as auto-adding funds when the balance falls below a certain level or turns negative, we understand the use case and will explore the feasibility of implementing this in the future.
