About SBI Mutual Fund.
SBI Mutual Fund, established on June 29, 1987, is India’s second asset management company after UTI. SBI Funds Management Ltd. was incorporated on February 7, 1992, to offer diverse mutual fund schemes. In 1999, SBI launched India’s first Contra fund, focusing on undervalued stocks.
In 2004, SBI sold 37% of its mutual fund arm to Societe Generale, with Amundi acquiring this stake in 2011. In 2015, SBI introduced India’s first ESG Fund and received a Rs 5,000 crore EPFO investment in its Sensex ETFs. CAMS serves as its registrar, and Mr. Vinay M. Tonse is the managing director.
