Paper trading feature on Dhan

Hi Dhan team,

Is there any possibility to introduce paper trading feature specifically for the futures and option strategies wherein people keen to enter these can hon their skills and become a better trader. This is one of the most critical need gap which should be considered.
Thanks

Hey @Harish_Kumar3, we totally understand the value of paper trading, but as per the current regulations, Stock Brokers and platforms are not allowed to offer paper trading or virtual trading features. We always strive to work within clear regulatory frameworks to ensure a safe and compliant experience for our users.

Hi @Harish_Kumar3 , You can still paper trade using Option Trader’s Strategy Builder and keep track of the money put in the trade using an Excel sheet. Instead of executing the trade, please save it to the snap and see the PnL. If you need to keep track of the charges, use Dhan’s brokerage calculator. It’s a lengthy process but a nice way to test out the strategies using Dhan’s products.

Tradingview also has a manual paper trading interface. NSE Equity, FnO, MCX FnO all there in tradingview. So we can easily test.

Thanks @Madiya_Khatri for your replies. Thanks for clarifying that regulations restrict from offering the paper trading. However, I see there are many platforms which are having this feature and the other brokers offer login through them. Sensibull is the most popular one.

Can there be some option where Dhan can partner with any such platform and offer the full/ pro access to its users maybe at some discounted prices if not complimentary?

Thanks for your attention to this.

Hi @Madiya_Khatri - Just found that Zerodha has an app called streak which offers unlimited backtest and Paper trading as well. How come Zerodha is able to provide this facility?

These are much needed features and must be incorporated.

Thanks.

Streak has been around for a long time—more than six years, I think. It was initially launched as a subscription platform, but the founders later took a very generous call and decided to offer it as a free value addition for their account holders, much like Sensibull.

What really stands out is their willingness to experiment. If a revenue model doesn’t work the way they expect, they don’t wait around hoping it will eventually take off. Instead, they’re quick to pivot and often choose to make the product free. That mindset is similar to how big tech companies think—rather than collecting small amounts from everyone, they focus on scale and long-term value by giving things away for free.

Thanks for more info on this. Hope @Dhan team will also look into this much needed feature and explore possibilities to bring this onboard.
