HI,
I purchased Mutual Funds from the app yesterday and today it’s reflecting in the app. however there’s a price difference of investment. i.e. i purchased 2 schemes of 5Lac each and investment amount is showing up approx 25rs lesser in both the schemes. so i got curious as why is there a difference is it some kind of charge that i missed? When purchasing i selected 5Lacs each and the same is deducted from my bank so just wanted to know why is there a difference of 25rs per purchase.
Thanks.
Hi @magicpoison
This difference is because of Securities transactions tax (STT) which government loots from investors. There’s no fee charged by Dhan for mutual fund transactions yet.
These are Liquid Funds. As far as i know and i searched i got this :
STT is not applicable to transactions in debt mutual funds, gold ETFs, liquid funds, or off-market transactions. It is also not levied on the purchase of any mutual fund units
This must be stamp duty if i’m not wrong. but just want to clarify so posted.
Hi @magicpoison, The difference you’re seeing is due to stamp duty charges. Stamp duty is levied at 0.005% of the investment amount, which comes to approximately ₹25 on an investment of ₹5 lakh.
This charge is applied as per regulatory requirements and is already mentioned in the Scheme Snapshot under the Overview tab at the time of investment.

Thank you for quick response. I have one more question. I purchased ETFs and MFs yesterday and both are reflecting in my portfolio but i’m not able to pledge them for margin today. Also ETFs showing up as not Eligible. why is that? they’re in the approved list but still shows not eligible? Also MFs are not showing up on the page why is that?
Hi @magicpoison, ETFs and Mutual Funds purchased yesterday are not eligible for pledging today because the units need to be fully settled and available in demat form.
Once the settlement is completed today(T+1), you should be able to see and pledge both ETFs and MFs from tomorrow onwards.
