Overall Impression
-
The homepage feels bloated and cluttered, with too many sections competing for attention.
-
Navigation requires excessive scrolling, making it harder to access key information quickly.
Specific Observations
-
Portfolio section: Fine to have upfront, but it’s followed by irrelevant product blocks (e.g., mutual funds) that aren’t usable on the website. These should be visible only in the app.
-
Market Movers: Acceptable, but not essential.
-
Trending section: Questionable value — unclear why it’s needed.
-
Trade with Algo section: Feels misplaced; users already have specialized platforms (e.g., options trader).
-
Key Indices & Commodities: Positioned too low. These should be directly beneath the portfolio, since they’re frequently referenced.
-
IPO & Corporate Actions: Currently split into multiple sections. Better as buttons within a single consolidated section.
Suggested Improvements
-
Optional Blocks: Allow users to customize what they see on the homepage. Each section/block should be toggleable based on individual preferences.
-
Prioritization: Place portfolio → indices/commodities → market movers at the top.
-
Consolidation: Merge related items (IPO, corporate actions) into one streamlined section.
-
Minimalism: Remove or hide low-value sections (Trending, Algo trading) unless users explicitly enable them.
Middle Ground
-
Recognize that some users may like the current UI.
-
A customizable homepage provides flexibility: power users can declutter, while others retain access to all features.
-
tbh, Web UI really needs almost complete overhaul
Thanks for staying with my jibber‑jabbbers.
Hi @aditya34608 Thanks for the detailed feedback. The refresh of Dhan homepage is work in action and you will see few of the changes coming up as we learn and adopt how the usage has been.
Bit background to this:
Generally, prior to Dhan - many broking platforms including the large and popular ones stayed away from discovery and it basically gave an impression of minimalism. We extensively meet traders in our journey and got to know they used third party products, websites, tools like strategy builders, etc - Dhan came up with the proposition of data, insights and analytics within app & web and started to have a homepage in app that is being replicated by almost every other trading platform now.
To some of your specific suggestions:
Mutual Funds will come up in the web soon, however many users check MF portfolios on Dhan web and the community is already filled with requests for MF on web.
Trending sections - already heavily used by users on Dhan App, it found its way to the web.
Market Movers - some users have mentioned it being duplicated, we have made note of this.
Key Indices & Commodities is placed low because same is being offered to on fixed ticker bar, to avoid duplication.
IPO & Corporate Actions: These are no longer used as a single section, IPOs are everyday actions today + Corporate Actions are way to many.
We have introduced News as a section as an experiment and Algos too for discovery, very early days for these products. An advanced user like you may be aware, but we still don’t have more than 0.5% adoption on this - if we fail in driving that, we will remove it from here. Open for changes.
For heavy users like you, you need priortization and customisation, few things are in the making. Will come your way soon, we are on it!
