Hi @Dhan @PravinJ sir, I don’t see any option to check the realised gain or loss for any partial exited open positions on dhan app. Everywhere only overall p&l is being shown.
For example, if I have 100 quantity and 50 quantity is sold, there is no option check the realised profit or loss on this 50 quantity in the app.
No bifurcation of realised and unrealised pnl is available on dhan app. Kindly suggest the alternative solution here or any feature in development for this?

Yes, we have your feedback and will surely explore the possibilities. In the meantime, you can refer P&L statement in which you shall be able to view both your realized and unrealized gains or losses.

@Dhan @PravinJ sir, it’s really becoming too difficult to track realised & unrealised pnl on your platforms in real time for any open positions. Don’t know how this basic feature is missed by you in developing such a wonderful platforms. Referring pnl statement after a day is of no use.
Hi @sri1647 Realised positions are always shown as closed, even if they are partially closed. If you would like to suggest any other way than the ones we already have, do drop us a note on feedback@dhan.co and we will evaluate.
Hi Sir, I dont see that it is working in that way. As you can see in the attached screenshot, it is a partially closed trade with realised loss on 20 quantity. But nothing is visible in closed positions. So in these cases, it is time consuming to calculate the realised pnl on the quantity sold if multiple such open positions exist with partial quantity sold. If you can introduce an option to show realised and unrealised pnl separately like other platforms do, it wil solve such problems.
Hi @sri1647 My bad, I should have mentioned that this is possible only for Equities.
For trading positions, P&L will always show for your active positions. That’s how trading platforms are globally, even at exchange level and as a result at our end too.
Also I double-checked this with couple of other platforms as well, just to be sure. They too treat exactly the same, just wanted to be make sure it is not only us.
Hi sir, everyone will show it in open position only. But at the same time they will show realised and unrealised gains separately for overall holdings and positions and the same is missing on dhan. Currently there is no way on dhan to get the realised and unrealised gains on real time basis & it is troublesome if multiple positions are involved.
Adding the visual from other platform for better clarity. It can be seen that realised and unrealised gains are shown separately in positions tab. It can be seen in several other platforms as well. Not sure why dhan is not showing the gains separately.
Hi @sri1647 Well, I think this will be creating clutter. We want to stay out of - building features because some broking platform has it.
We have Trader’s Diary (very comprehensive for now + more updates available), along with present experience.
There is nothing clutter here sir. It’s a basic feature which every platform has to show the realised and unrealised gains/losses separately. The traders diary and journal shows history but not real time result. Please help me to understand why dhan is not showing realised and unrealised gains separately? No feature on dhan currently provides us with real time unrealised gains or loss for partially exited and open positions.
Hi @sri1647 We have to look at experience for 900,000+ users of Dhan, something that works for one user doesn’t essentially work for all.
Rest is upto you sir. I tried my best to explain the importance of this essential & basic feature. It’s your product and your decision after all.
@PravinJ Sorry for making an entry on this thread but just saw it by coincidence now. I am fine with traders diary and every feature and I do not need live gains either. But I would highly appreciate if you could create a feature where I can check the profit and loss for each past trade. In the trader’s diary, I can only see the overall profit and loss but not for each closed trade. I do not want to compare with any other broker but I was a full time trader with another broker when I started trading post Covid. I could see the daily profit and loss with each trade I took (similar to the traders diary but actual profit loss for each trade instead of the day’s profit loss only). It is a good way of keeping an idea of what I did in the past to be profitable. Here is a screenshot from my account there. I shifted to Dhan from there last year.
I was very good back then with Futures and made good profit. I had left trading for a year or two and then when I returned back to trading, I was making loss with time. So, I shifted to Dhan just due to webhooks through TradingView. But the second half of last year again wiped off my profits from Dhan and I am again running in loss from trading in derivatives. But I check my past trades at times to try to find what I used to do right in those days to be profitable consistently. Please try to include such a detailed feature with profit loss of individual trades so that I can check past trades with what I do right on profitable days or do wrong on loss making days. Again, it is just a feature request if possible.
Hi @zaman Well, something like this is already available in Journal. We have given access to this to select users over the past few days - based on the usage and feedback we are finishing the product.
We should launch this for all users in coming days.
