Hi @Bhavya_Jain
Request to Implement Trending OI in DEXT
Overview
Request to introduce a Trending OI (Open Interest) feature in DEXT to help traders quickly identify significant changes in Open Interest and understand market positioning.
1. Trending OI
The feature should identify contracts experiencing significant changes in OI:
-
OI Increase – Significant addition in Open Interest
-
OI Decrease – Significant reduction in Open Interest
-
Long Build-up – Price ↑ + OI ↑
-
Short Build-up – Price ↓ + OI ↑
-
Long Unwinding – Price ↓ + OI ↓
-
Short Covering – Price ↑ + OI ↓
2. Strike Selection
Users should be able to control which strikes are included in Trending OI.
Options should include:
-
Specific strike selection
-
Manual multiple-strike selection
-
Custom strike range
-
CE only
-
PE only
-
CE + PE
-
Expiry selection
Trending OI should be calculated only from the strikes selected by the user.
3. PCR Value
The Trending OI section should also display Put-Call Ratio (PCR).
PCR should be available for:
PCR value should be implemented
The PCR should be calculated based on the user-selected expiry and strike range, rather than automatically using the entire option chain.
For example:
ATM ± 10 strikes → Calculate Put OI / Call OI only from those selected strikes.
This makes the PCR more relevant to the user’s selected trading range.
4. PCR Trend
DEXT should also show how PCR is changing over time:
-
Current PCR
-
Previous PCR
-
PCR Change
-
PCR Change %
-
PCR trend
For example:
PCR: 1.18 ↑ +0.12
This can help users identify whether Put OI or Call OI is increasing relative to the other.
6. Time-Based Analysis
Allow users to select time frame
7. Filters
Users should be able to filter by:
-
Index
-
Futures
-
Options
-
CE / PE
-
Expiry
-
Strike
Objective
The objective is to create a customizable Trending OI scanner where users can select the expiry, strike range, CE/PE and time period and immediately see:
-
Where OI is increasing or decreasing
-
Long Build-up
-
Short Build-up
-
Long Unwinding
-
Short Covering
-
PCR
-
PCR change/trend
This would make Trending OI a powerful tool for option-chain analysis, intraday trading and identifying changes in market positioning and sentiment.
