I hope this message finds you well. I have been a loyal user of Dhan for quite some time, and I appreciate the platform’s features and tools. However, I would like to address a recent change that has significantly impacted my trading experience, and I kindly request that you reconsider this update.
The recent alteration to the tab header – where the live price was previously displayed and has now been replaced with only the stock name – has disrupted my trading process. As a long-time trader, I rely heavily on being able to track real-time prices quickly and efficiently. Having the price visible in the tab header was a feature I found extremely valuable, especially when working with multiple tabs.
Here’s why this change has affected my trading style:
- Quick Price Tracking: Displaying the price in the tab header allowed me to monitor various assets, such as Nifty, Bank Nifty, Sensex, and different options (CE, PE), without switching tabs. This feature provided a significant advantage when I wanted to scalp for momentum trades or quickly exit an open position by comparing the live prices of different assets in one view across multiple tabs. It made it easier to compare and track prices across multiple instruments, allowing me to make quick and accurate decisions.
- Multitasking and Office Use: The price in the tab header was also visible in the taskbar, allowing me to work on other tasks while still keeping an eye on the live market. This was especially beneficial when I needed to focus on other work but wanted to stay updated on my trades. Additionally, when working in an office environment, it allowed me to track my concerned stock prices or option prices without disrupting my office tasks.
- Intuitive Stock Recognition: As a trader, the price is often more recognizable than the stock name. With multiple tabs open, I could easily identify the stock by its price. Additionally, organizing the layout with fixed positions in tabs (e.g., Tab 1 for Nifty, Tab 2 for Bank Nifty, Tab 3 for that day’s watchlist stocks, etc.) helped streamline my workflow and enabled me to track my desired stocks without confusion. If I ever had any doubt, hovering over the tab would still reveal the stock name. Therefore, suggesting that the price be shown first is not problematic for anyone.
While I understand that some users may have requested this change, I believe the old setup was far more practical and efficient for serious traders, offering many advantages over displaying the name first. Moreover, the names for the index options are quite long, as they include expiry details. Ordering the name first, followed by the price and percentage, is less useful. The price, displayed in decimal format, is shorter, allowing the stock name to appear on the backside. Displaying live, updated prices in the tab header provides a significant advantage over simply showing the stock name first. If necessary, I would suggest showing a shortened version of the name behind the price to balance the needs of others.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could consider reinstating the previous feature or offering users the option to customize the tab display according to their preferences.
