This often happens when traders struggle to accept losses. The reality is that losses are simply part of the game. No one wins all the time, and over a reasonable number of trades, every strategy will have its share of both winners and losers.

Most traders aim to stay above zero. To do that, they tend to lock in small profits too quickly while holding on to losing trades, averaging down and hoping the price will turn in their favor. When the time finally comes to take a loss, the urge to recover quickly kicks in, often leading to overtrading and more losses.
