The Trader’s Dilemma: Loving a Holiday, Missing the Market

As traders, we often look forward to market holidays like today, the 15th of August, thinking we’ll enjoy the break. But when the day arrives, it’s weirdly unsettling. The usual routine of checking charts, scanning the watchlist, and making quick decisions is suddenly missing. It’s not just about the trades we could’ve made; it’s the mental rhythm of the markets that we’ve gotten used to. Even though we know we need a breather, part of us still craves the hustle and feels a bit disconnected without it.

It’s like that weird feeling when you skip your morning tea—it’s a break, but something’s just off.

On days like Independence Day, the excitement seems to fade a little as we grow up, and celebrations aren’t quite as thrilling. Still, it’s a good time to wish fellow citizens a Happy Independence Day, honoring the progress and freedom we’ve gained. May these days serve as a breakthrough from all shades of darkness and bring enlightenment for better decisions, both in life and trading, guiding us toward greater wisdom.

Oh wow, a ‘trader’ who wants the markets open on holidays? That’s not a trader, that’s a broke gambler in disguise.

If one couldn’t make money Monday to Friday, what magical fortune is one expecting on Saturday and Sunday?

Replying to this thread a day late—by now the context has already gone stale.

Well, for me it’s been a nice day so far, so I’ll resist the urge to spar with your out‑of‑context opinion.
