About Company’s Business:
The entity is a Government of India enterprise operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Designated as a “Public Financial Institution,” it is officially recognized as a Systemically Important Non-Deposit taking Non-Banking Financial Company with Infrastructure Finance Company status. Boasting a financial history spanning over 36 years, this institution specializes in promoting, developing, and offering financial support for projects related to new and renewable energy, as well as energy efficiency and conservation. It delivers a comprehensive array of financial products and associated services, covering the entire spectrum from project conceptualization to post-commissioning, specifically tailored for renewable energy projects and various value chain activities, including equipment manufacturing and transmission.
About the Industry:
In Fiscal 2023, the outstanding credit of major power financing Non-Banking Financial Companies (“NBFCs”) experienced a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around 10% since Fiscal 2019, reaching approximately ₹9,399 billion. The anticipation for Fiscal 2024 is that power financing NBFCs will sustain this upward trajectory, propelled by factors such as the growing power demand, increasing population, the integration of renewable energy, and India’s commitment to sustainability goals. The financing needs for sectors like solar and wind energy are expected to witness significant expansion, aligning with the government’s target of achieving 500 GW of installed non-fossil fuel-based power capacity by 2030.
