In the money section, there is total margin. What exactly is this?
If I buy stocks worth 50,000 for delivery in a day and if I sell 20,000 worth of stocks. Will the margin be 30,000 (unsold), or will the margin be 50,000 (sold and unsold)? If 50,000 is the total margin, how can I know the break up?
I want to calculate the total amount I used for a single session which should also include unsold and sold stocks. I download open and closed positions files and calculate how much I bought, how much got sold, how much remaining, but this is tedious for many positions.
If I can get the specifics from Dhan, it will save a lot of time and work.
If anyone is doing this differently, tell me the way.

Hi @Trader_FT, Total Margin Used shows the current margin blocked for your active positions.
As per your example:
• If you buy ₹50,000 worth of stocks (delivery) → Total Margin Used = ₹50,000
• If you then sell ₹20,000 of a different stock from your portfolio → this will appear as Delivery Sell Benefit (credited in ledger on T+1), but Total Margin Used will still reflect ₹50,000
• However, if you sell ₹20,000 from the same stock bought earlier, your open position reduces → Total Margin Used will then show ₹30,000
Please refer to below screenshot for reference.
Okay.
Yes, I check that.
I would like to know how much funds I have used in a session. How much worth of stocks I had bought, how much worth of stocks got sold, how much worth of stocks did not get sold.
Where can I see this information?
@Mohseen_Usmani
Total margin used shows how much money you have used, it is very simple. And sell benefit amount shows how much you have sold from portfolio, and if something is not sold then it will be in your portfolio or in margin used.

My requirement is just about the funds I used in a day. I don’t want to know about the worth of stocks that got sold from the portfolio.
Each day, I have to download open positions and calculate the amount, same for closed positions also if I don’t want to wait till Dhan updates all info by night.
I want to know if this segregation is available so that I don’t have do many calculations.
