Appreciation Post for Dhan app

I am not a frequent user of Dhan mobile app but I do use it occasionally once or twice a day. Recently, I updated the app and was very much surprised with the charting experience.

Earlier only 5 charts could be viewed but now this whole thing has been modified in pleasant way.

Thanks for the update @dhan team.

@Shally Everything will get polished over time.

Overall, I am happy with the trend that Dhan has corrected its course mid-2025. :innocent:

@thisisbanerjee Jahan tareef banti hai wahan tareef zaroor karenge.

But I can show numerous posts done many years ago highlighting bugs, even did video sessions to make their team understand but still present in their original form. Be it watchlist navigation on tv.dhan.co or changing of candle colours when pressed cancelled in settings (strange).

And those were very basics!!!

Anyway, I have accepted that. Generally, I don’t point out bugs now.

Aaj aap mei change surprising laga to appreciate kia.

Yes, but one thing worth mentioning is that. Charts are loading slowly, it takes maybe 3-4 seconds to load on mobile and on the first opening, it takes more than 10 seconds.

Chart loading speeds need attention and optimization.

TradingView native charts load much faster, Angel One loads much faster, and Sahi loads instantly.

The bugs are mostly chart related, I believe all that can be fixed if Dhan develops their own charts.

Sahi has built a fantastic charting experience, Groww is building their own charts, IndMoney has their own charts.

Most interestingly, now Zerodha is also working on their own charting platform.

Recently, you’ll notice that an admins have renamed all their community posts from TV Charts to Dhan Charts, so is something brewing? My wild speculation.

Just like Groww’s 915, I wish I could choose what indicators I want on the chart and what tools I want to see when the chart is loaded. When I open the chart, I just see that and nothing else. No unnecessary clutter of multiple tools, no unnecessary timeframes, no other indicators to be chosen from the dropdown etc. Just a plain chart and the choices that I had made in the settings.

@Shally I feel I am going through this transition too. Surprisingly, it has only been a year since I have been with Dhan. Dhan is great and I use it explicitly for my Swing trades in the cash market. Currently I am just focusing on things which Dhan is really good at and how they help me proceed further. Alerts are something primary to me so I have gotten used to multiple apps sending me alerts  and for other things have created tools locally so in general I am happier with the tools that brokers provide as far as my order is punched at the price of my choice  .

Groww’s 915 is a ripoff of Sahi. The OG is Sahi.

TV is very powerful for analysis, what you call isn’t clutter. Those are tools which helps me analyze markets better.

Well probably the OG is Sahi but the entire industry is built by imitating each other hence for users, it doesn’t matter who the OG is or who is imitating the OG. The point is if the design can be made configurable that’s all.

Regarding tools, not all users would use all the tools that are given. It’s just a certain set which is used and the point here is to configure it in settings and just load that instead of the entire set. The point is not about whether it’s powerful or not, the point is set and have the choice of just seeing that in charts instead of all the things that it has to offer.

On Dhan layout, you can save the default layout and ONLY those indicators will show whenever you load a chart.

On tools, you can mark your tools as favourites and hide the rest.

On timeframes, you can mark you favourite timeframe and the rest will stay hidden.

I think there is a communication gap here, on Dhan everything can be saved and those are pre-loaded.

@thisisbanerjee I think there is a miss in what I am trying to convey but it’s not saving layouts. Layouts are saved based on the indicators that are applied on the chart but my wish was based on what gets to choose from the list of tools, indicators, the right panel where we see the order window or Watchlists etc. Anyway like I termed it, it’s just a wish .

Being a premium TV subscriber, I can vouch this is not the case. I feel TV to be too slow during market hours.

I differ. Tradingview charting is the best as of now. Anyone doing on their own is just reinventing the wheel.

I used all three.

Groww 915 is best. Sahi is normal it has scope for so much of improvement. Dhan is worst platform I have ever used.

I’m not differing with this. TradingView is the gold standard in charting right now. But the fact, that if a brokerage don’t own the charts, it can’t be integrated well into the platforms and OMS.

My point is, for a fast chart loading experience, a broker needs to own the charting platform. I maybe wrong also, but seeing Sahi, I am of this view.

Aaj to mujhe bhi slow lag raha hai. But TV is behaving even slower, as usual.

IMO, TV charts are the best. I am on free plan so native TV charts lags anyways. Not sure about the subscription.

Don’t know, but when it comes to chart navigation and shortcuts, nothing can beat TV.
The simplicity TV provides, is lacking at Sahi, ChartIQ and any other charting tool for that matter.
I am surprised, why other charting tools cannot imitated chart re-positioning behaviour of TV. It is very apt & convenient.

Putting efforts in developing charting tool and beginning everything from the scratch is not that necessary. (I feel)
Rather, forking TV source code and modifying it as per needs is more convenient. Provided, source code is already published! :stuck_out_tongue:

Btw, I have noticed multiple times, option chart is more responsive than spot chart on Dhan. If anyone has noticed.

Well Dhan charting has problems and TradingView has gradually improved overtime so comparing them is not right. TradingView won’t give all their secrets even in the top subscription because then they would be cannibalising their revenue. Also to have webhooks from TV to Dhan, you need TV premium which is a way of saying that you have to pay no matter what.

Having custom charts just gives an edge and in the long run save on some issues that might arise later.

@Rakesh_Roshan Pretty harsh to say that Dhan is the worst. Can you share your perspective as to why you feel it’s the worst?

Hi Rakesh,

Good to see you on the community. Can you please share your registered email id or mobile no along with the issues that youre facing - would be very happy to address and resolve it.

Too slow in paid subscription also especially during market hours!
