Insights from Dhan: Options Trading Volumes on Exchanges with Multiple Expiry Days in 2023

For Option Traders in India :chart_with_upwards_trend::chart_with_downwards_trend::india:

2023 has been a bit crazy year for Option Traders in India. Our team at Dhan was analysing option trading volumes on exchanges, we are sharing some interesting trends on trading volumes below :point_down:

Options Trading on Thursday has changed after BankNifty moved to Wednesday :cold_face:

Except for Monthly Expiry on last week of every month, when both Nifty & BankNifty contracts expire on same dayโ€ฆ trading volumes are at all time highs :smiling_face_with_tear:

BankNifty Rules on Wednesday :fire:

YES - Wednesday is the new Thursday :sunglasses:. BankNifty commands max volumes for Wed, except on last week as monthly expiry is on Thursday. Small room for Nifty and others.

Monday - still a mixed bag, but Midcap Select has early traction :thinking:

Tuesdays now belong to FinNifty! :v:

Maintaining an consistent lead and its volumes are at stable and at all-time highs.

Friday has a new winner: BSE Sensex :trophy:

For the first time last week, options trading volumes on BSE were higher than NSE. Trading on BSE is building traction!

Commodity Trading is growingโ€ฆ :zap::cowboy_hat_face:

MCX continues to build momentum and expiry trading for Crude Oil and Natural Gas is a thing now.

Friendly Reminder:
Options Trading is risky, and you may know that 9 out of 10 traders lose their capital. :face_with_diagonal_mouth: Trade in options very very cautiously, even if you see other traders โ€˜claimingโ€™ to make money. Trading is skill, learn before you get started. :pray: :slightly_smiling_face:
