Introducing: Invest in US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan 🇺🇸

Dear Investors,

At Dhan, we’ve always believed that investing should always be simpler, transparent and accessible to all. In our journey of building Dhan we have focussed on building for users who know the markets - Super Traders and Long-Term Investors.

Over the years, we have built products that help investors participate across different opportunities and assets - from Stocks, ETFs, Mutual Funds, Rental of Stocks via SLBM, Gold Vault and much more. Every product we launch follows the same philosophy: make investing simple, transparent, compliant, and accessible for everyone. Every addition has been guided by one thing: helping you participate in opportunities that matter to you.

We understand that we cater to investors who know the markets, and in many cases they also know companies, stocks, markets, and investing beyond India. For which, one request from our users has always stayed with us - “How can I invest in iconic Global Companies? How can I invest in some of the world’s largest brands? How and when can I invest in US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan?

For many investors, the US market represents an opportunity to participate in some of the world’s most innovative and influential companies. Companies whose products & platforms we use every day as consumers, businesses that have shaped industries globally, and investment opportunities that often aren’t available in India or if available, only to a select few people.

At the same time, global investing has traditionally felt complicated. Questions around regulations, fund transfers, taxation, compliance, account opening, hidden charges, and execution have often made investors hesitant to take the first step. Today, we’re changing that for users of Dhan.

Today, we’re excited to tell you: Investing in US Stocks & ETFs are now live on Dhan. :tada:

Invest in the world’s largest companies in a fully transparent & regulated way via IFSC - GIFT City. Diversify globally. Start with as little as $1. No hidden charges.

Why invest in US Markets?

The US market is home to some of the world’s most influential companies and largest investment opportunities. From technology leaders and AI innovators to healthcare pioneers, consumer brands, and global ETFs, the US markets provide investors access to businesses that impact billions of people across the world.

US markets offer access to:

  • Global technology leaders
  • Artificial Intelligence companies
  • Semiconductor businesses
  • Consumer giants
  • Healthcare innovators
  • Global ETFs tracking various sectors and themes

For many investors, global investing isn’t about choosing between India and the US. It’s about diversification. Just as investors diversify across sectors and asset classes, investing across geographies can help create a more balanced portfolio and provide exposure to opportunities beyond domestic markets. And now, you can do exactly that on Dhan.

Built Through India’s Global Investing Framework

One of the biggest concerns investors have had around international investing is understanding how it works. Where does the money go? Who regulates it? Is it compliant?

To make global investing accessible to Indian residents through a regulated route, India established GIFT City - IFSC (International Financial Services Centre).

The ecosystem is governed by IFSCA (International Financial Services Centres Authority), India’s unified regulator for financial activities conducted within GIFT City. Think of GIFT City as India’s gateway to global financial markets. It allows Indian residents to access international investment opportunities through a regulated framework that follows applicable RBI, FEMA, and other regulatory requirements.

For US Stocks & ETFs, Dhan has partnered with:

• India INX: India’s international exchange operating from GIFT City

• ViewTrade: A global US broker & technology partner that powers execution and market connectivity for US exchanges.

• GloMoPay: which powers the fund transfer experience between India and GIFT City

Here’s what this means for you:

  • Your US investments flow through a regulated, Indian framework.
  • Your money movement, compliance, and reporting follow RBI and FEMA rules.
  • Your investments are handled through licensed, globally-recognised partners.
  • The experience remains simple and transparent with no grey areas.

This GIFT City route gives you the confidence that your global investing journey is safe, structured, and regulated.

Dhan simplifies US Investing for you!

Dhan brings this entire experience together in a simple, seamless manner.

From activation and investing to portfolio tracking and reporting, everything is available directly within your Dhan account. We’ve focused on removing the complexity that has traditionally been associated with global investing and making the experience as intuitive as investing in Indian markets.

Start Investing from Just $1:

One of the most exciting aspects of US investing is fractional ownership. Unlike traditional investing where you need to buy an entire share, US markets allow you to invest in fractions of a share.

This means you can start with as little as $1. Whether a stock costs $50, $500, or $5,000, you can still participate with an amount you’re comfortable investing in; it allows you to buy a small portion of a stock. This makes global investing more accessible, allows better diversification, and helps investors start small while learning global markets.
Fractional with sound & larger

SIPs and Super Orders from Day One:

Investing globally should not mean compromising on convenience. That’s why US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan launch with features that our users already love.

You can:

  • Invest in US Stocks and ETFs
  • Buy Fractional Shares
  • Create SIPs
  • Place Super Orders
  • Track investments in your portfolio seamlessly

Whether you’re a long-term investor building wealth systematically or someone looking to participate in global opportunities as they arise, we’ve built the experience accordingly.

Features with sound & longer

Fund Transfers made Simple:

To make your investing journey smooth, we’ve integrated fund transfers with:

  • HDFC Bank
  • ICICI Bank
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank
  • Axis Bank
  • IDFC FIRST Bank

More banking partners will be added over time. Funds are transferred directly to your US investing account through the regulated ecosystem, ensuring a smooth and compliant experience.

Transparent Pricing:

We’ve always believed that investors should know exactly what they’re paying. No surprises. No hidden charges.

  • Brokerage: 0.25% of transaction value on Buy & Sell

  • Fund Transfer (Pay-In): Free*

  • Fund Withdrawal (Payout): Free

Note that: $1 charge only if the transfer amount is below $100 (No charge for transfers of $100 or above)

You can always view applicable charges before proceeding, ensuring complete transparency throughout your investing journey.

Please Note: Some banks may apply additional charges while transferring funds for US investing. These charges are collected by the bank directly and not by Dhan. These charges vary from bank to bank.

US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan is more than a new product launch. It’s another step towards giving Indian investors access to opportunities across markets, geographies, and asset classes through a simple and regulated experience.

Whether you’re investing in your favourite global companies, building a diversified portfolio, exploring international ETFs, or simply starting your global investing journey with your very first dollar, we’re excited to be part of it.

This is just the start of your global investing journey and we’re excited to bring it to you in the most reliable way possible.

The initiative is great but I have a query. For US Investing module, the amount can only be transferred directly from the banks and not from the Dhan Trading account? What if I have parked my funds in Liquid ETFs and now I want to utilise it to invest in US stocks and ETFs? Also does the Brokerage have a cap?

Great initiative by Team Dhan. One feature I’d love to see next is ScanX integration for US Stocks & ETFs. Research, screening, and comparison tools for global markets within the Dhan ecosystem would make the investing experience even more powerful. Congratulations on the launch!

Can we also trade in them or only invest? Also will it be open during US markets hours?

A special thank you to everyone in the community who kept asking us for US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan.

This has been one of those requests that stayed with us for a long time not because it was easy to build, but because many of you kept reminding us why it mattered.

A big shoutout to some of the earliest members who asked for this way before it became a launch:

@gegobyte , @Rohitsingh, @Ramanathan, @Rishi-Ritzy, @Abhi199496, @Sammy, @Rohan_Kumbhare, @BlackPanther6758 — thank you for asking, nudging, following up, and patiently waiting.

And to everyone else who recently raised this, asked about activation, ETFs, SIPs, fractional investing, GIFT City, pricing and how the entire framework works @Sk_dhan, @Mohamed_Abdul_Mathee, @pavz, @U.S, @Pradumya, @nitishbangera, @BIR, @Lokesh360, @Saptarshi, @Nishant_Purohit, @Amar_Malikaparambil, @hexafrost, @Ninja, @Pankaj, @onsomani, @MostlyNerd, @Shubhama942, @hersh , thank you.

US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan is now live. :united_states:

But more importantly, it is live in the way we always wanted to bring it to you — through a regulated Indian framework via GIFT City / IFSC, with money movement, compliance and reporting following applicable RBI and FEMA rules, and investments handled through licensed, globally recognised partners.

We know global investing can feel complicated. Regulations, fund transfers, charges, compliance, account opening, these are not small questions. So we wanted to build this with clarity, structure and transparency.

No grey areas.
No hidden charges.
A simple, transparent experience for Indian investors who want to participate in global opportunities.

You can now invest in US Stocks & ETFs on Dhan, start with as little as $1, set up SIPs, and track everything from your Dhan portfolio.

This launch is genuinely community-shaped. Many of you asked for it before it was on the roadmap, followed up when there were no updates, and kept pushing us to build it the right way.

Thank you for helping us make Dhan better.

gr8 new opportunity to investors by dhan

I have a few questions about this

1.After how many days you can you sell stocks after buying
2.What about currency conversions cost
3.How will dividends paid to investors

Hi @nitishbangera

Yes, you will need to transfer funds from your bank account, as LRS regulations apply to overseas investments and banks are required to validate such remittances.

The brokerage charged will be 0.25% of the transaction value, subject to a minimum brokerage of $0.01 per transaction.

Hi @Iamking

As of now, you can invest in US Stocks and ETFs. Buy Today, Sell Today transactions are also supported.

The market will be available during US market hours. As per IST, the market generally opens at 7:00 PM and closes at around 1:30 AM (timings may vary slightly during daylight saving changes in the US)

@nitishbangera asked for maximum capping

Like equities have 20rs capping likewise?

Hi @AYUSH

Thank You.

Providing US Stocks on ScanX is definitely something we are considering. We will evaluate and plan for it as part of our future enhancements.

I am not able to see the US stock option in my account

Thanks to the Dhan team, this rollout has been impressively fast, and it’s great to see Super Orders supported from Day 1.

  1. Could you clarify which underlying US broker is being used? Is it Interactive Brokers or another partner?
  2. Additionally, it would be extremely valuable to integrate taxation module with ClearTax from the outset. Tax compliance for international investing can be quite complex, with requirements like Schedule FA and other disclosures. If these could be auto-filled similar to ClearTax’s existing fetch-and-fill integrations, it would significantly reduce the compliance burden for users. Platforms like Vested already offer such integrations, and it makes a meaningful difference in user experience.
  3. Hope you are also going to support for web, tradingview and dext eventually!

Again congrats to the entire Dhan team! @PravinJ @MahimaShah @RahulDeshpande

@Vicky_Raj We are releasing it in phased manner to ensure a seamless experience for all investors. By the end of the week, it will be rolled out fully.

Hi @rahulm

  • The settlement cycle is T+1. However, buying and selling on the same day is supported.

  • The currency conversion rate applied is the exchange rate provided by your bank at the time of fund transfer.

  • Any dividends received on your US Stocks holdings are directly credited to your ledger after deduction of applicable taxes as per US regulations.

Hi @Pradumya

As of now, there is no maximum cap applicable.

Great to see this finally live, @MahimaShah ! Pravin sir actually mentioned to me in a previous discussion (attached the screenshot) that Dhan had plans to bring US Stocks with core capabilities by the end of this year, 2026. It’s amazing to see that vision turning into reality ahead of schedule! I haven’t got the feature on my app yet, so just tracking it through your post for now.

While fractional investing from $1 via GIFT City is a solid structural move, the real utility comes down to integrated data tools. For Indian stocks, Dhan’s built-in ScanX is a fantastic feature that most users, including myself, actively use to find stocks and analyze details like news, statement alerts, earnings, and balance sheets.

Since Pravin sir mentioned core capabilities, can we expect this same ScanX platform experience and custom scanner creation to be a part of the US segment as well? Having these tools built directly into the app prevents the hassle of tracking global markets across multiple external platforms. Would love to know what the current status or roadmap looks like for this.

Hi @jaison

As mentioned, our US broker partner is ViewTrade.

Yes, we are evaluating integrations and solutions around taxation to make US Stocks reporting as simple, comprehensive, and easy to understand as possible for users.

As of now, US Stocks have been launched on the Dhan App. Extending the offering to other Dhan platforms is yet to be evaluated & planned.

Hi @U.S

Yes, this is something we are evaluating. Our current focus is on scaling the US Stocks experience. Once that is in place, features such as alerts, screeners, earnings, news, financials, and stock insights for US markets are areas we plan to explore.

No timeline to share yet, but it is definitely on our list.
