Web Platform v/s Desktop Terminal : what do you prefer?

No sir no this is not at all a desktop trading software that we really want, its just basically the same web app disguised & being called a desktop app, just take a look at the youtube videos

@RahulDeshpande I guess dhan should make a desktop terminal dedicated only for seamless order placement , exactly like fyers NEXT terminal.
But fyers web backoffice su*ks way too confusing to track trade details thats why i shifted to Dhan

I prefer terminal because i can order almost immediately almost 5k+ qty in a blink of a sec. Press F2 and enter for selling. Thats it. It takes default qty as set. Scanning is easy like near 52 week high. Make watchlist and cycle through each chart by pressing space. Make unlimited watchlist. Individually by watchlist you can set which ever stock is going up it indicates in window. Web platform is must but I use it after day is over, mostly for screening and checking its behaviour on chart. For trading I prefer terminal over web by far margin.

We can have a minimalistic web terminal, with watchlist, current positions n charts and to complement it we can have a desktop terminal like FYERS NXT platform where we can have a lot of parameters displayed. It will be best of both worlds n NXT platform is way better & simple to use than nest trader.

Sorry, I disagree. Fyers Next is not at all good. AngelOne’s TradeOne terminal (web) is by far the best I have used till date. In fact, I am using.

World has moved on to mobile and web based apps. Almost anything that is on Fyers Next can be built on web as well if it is already not there. The only advantage that a PC based software will give you is faster rendering and better customization due to better utilization and control of local pc resources. However the difference is not significant these days.

Not at all. FnO can be done at low frequency also.

Btw high speed punching can be done using keyboard shortcuts in web also

Talking about speed - I punch one entry and one exit per day. Impossible to match my order frequency.

I Think this is really interesting one softwere may dhan can do partenership with them and bring it to coustomer.

Desktop Terminal. Because it is considered safe. Web platform say in chrome keeps getting bugged and one has to be on safeguard perennially.

Back in 2020, I was using Nest Trader with Zerodha, and honestly, it was one of the best trading experiences I’ve had. The execution speed was top-notch, and there was no lag — something every trader values the most during fast market movements.

However, the major downside was the outdated and cluttered graphics. The user interface felt claustrophobic and far from intuitive, which made it difficult to focus on the trades themselves.

Fast forward to today — Dhan has a real opportunity here to build a cutting-edge trading platform using modern technology. A fast, lag-free experience combined with a clean, intuitive interface could truly change the game for traders. If they get it right, it could be a game-changer in the Indian trading ecosystem!

I believe the Benefits of Desktop Terminal:

  • Ability to place DoM, Charts, Order Window etc. on different screens or in a specific order on a single screen
  • Close or add widgets which as per user pref.
  • Slight edge in execution times over web based solutions

Desktop terminal, if it’s as powerful as interactive broker’s trader’s workstation if not then vanilla NEST will do just for ticker watchlist.

I prefer web platforms because if I want to open dhan trading view chart then chart will be open on web browser, so every time minimizing or switching from web browser to terminal is annoying.

if Dhan provide feature to open tradingview chart inside the terminal itself then terminal would be best choice for most of the user.
