Introducing: Power Scalper for Option Traders

Hello Traders,

Dhan has always committed to being madefortrade, which reflects in our products, our
approach to markets, and most importantly, in our users. For the last 4 years, we have been
building and iterating products for the Indian Trader, ensuring everything that a trader ever
needs is available under one roof.

Trading is focused on a common outcome, but the ways to achieve it are different and
personal to each and every trader. And we have been trying to build this experience with the
power of the best trading tools for all Indian traders.

Let’s look at Dhan Charts - we’ve always aimed to provide the gold standard of charting for
Indian Traders. On top of this, we have curated features particular to Indian traders - both to
help in analysis and trade execution right on charts.

For analysis, we started working backwards - from attempting to build all Popular Indicators,
Option Chain, Alerts, Seconds Timeframes and many more things which can help a user
analyse during markets and even post-market hours. The key differentiator has been trade
execution features on Dhan Charts via our trading engine DEXT.

Starting from placing orders with a simple click on charts to building the Trade Plan - one of
the most comprehensive risk-controlled trading tools - we have focused on different types of
traders and their trading patterns. There are dozens of different ways in which traders can
place orders on charts - including Basket Orders, Order window, keyboard shortcuts and
many more.

In all these different order execution systems, one of the most used features has been
Scalper - something that we introduced exactly a year back in Jan 2024. We have seen
traders loving this simple way to trade markets - powered by DEXT execution speed -
delivers the execution scalpers require. Over the entire year, across the market cycle, we
have seen traders consistently scalping in markets.

This is what pushed us to build scalping right on the underlying charts - especially for index,
wherein you can trade the options while being on the index chart. If you haven’t tried it out
yet, all you need to do is open any underlying index chart on Dhan Charts and click on
Scalper. It is built for traders who look at indices and then take positions accordingly.

Today, we are taking another step in this direction - for all the traders on Dhan - something
that will make scalping even more seamless with a better market view and Dhan’s tested
execution speed.

Introducing: Power Scalper for Option Traders

With our user interactions across last year, we understood that scalpers want more - a
unified interface to track all that matters most to them. And this is why we built a dedicated
scalping terminal for all our traders.

Let’s look at how Power Scalper is built. To begin with, there are two modes - vertical and
horizontal - so that you can choose which mode works best for your scalping. This is to
ensure you don’t lose the comfort of your chart layout.

1

You can quickly toggle between the underlying future or the spot - depending on how you
prefer to trade. And you can trade both the call and put options at once - maybe taking
contra positions or hedging or to trade multiple opportunities together.

2

We have kept personalisation in mind - you can view charts as you want - remove call, put or
underlying from your view. You can also set your own settings and everything is saved
especially for your scalping setup.

3

We have added options chain and the full market depth - right on the scalping terminal. This
is for you to get the market overview directly while trading - including the entire order book of
the market.

4

Let’s look at position management - we have brought power positions right on the positions
and orders tab. This means you can add, remove or exit positions with single clicks making
management simple and on a single interface. And not just this, with a single click, you can
exit all your positions or just selected underlying positions.

5

And there’s a lot more like selecting strikes directly from the option chain, keeping a check
on margin, converting positions in single click and more. Right now, you can open Power
Scalper from Dhan Web or from Dhan Charts - just look for the Power Scalper button.

Power Scalper is built as a dedicated terminal, just for scalping. We know there’s a lot more
to build and make the scalping experience even better. We would love to hear your thoughts
and feedback - to make this your preferred scalping platform.

Further, to help you understand how to use the Power Scalper terminal, we recommend that you watch this video!

This is awesome! i used this on the budget day on sunday and it was very useful! very easy to enter and exit while monitoring all 3 underlying and ATM CE/PE prices at the same time!

Scalping involves a very high number of transactions, with traders getting in and out quickly for small profits or losses. In a high transaction-cost environment, this approach is unlikely to be profitable for most traders. If anyone here has consistently made money from scalping, I’d genuinely like to hear about it.

That said, it’s still good to have this as an additional feature - Dhan won’t be missing something that other brokers are aggressively promoting and that many traders, especially newbie traders, are looking for.

@Hardik it would add more value if you can consider the below feedbacks -

  1. Top options next to the Market depth tab, showing ATM, High OI, High Vol call & put options.
  2. Default settings for Target, SL, Trailing SL where we can define % or points.
  3. Toggle/switch icons directly on the charts rather than elsewhere
    image
  4. Watchlist tab is much needed one.

@Hardik Well this is really good for Option Buying. I have the following feedbacks
1: If I change the timeframe at the top, it should change for all 3 charts. Currently, I have to go change it in each one separately.
2: The Toggle to shift from Future to Spot is only visible in the horizontal layout. If I change the layout, the underlying changes to the Spot again.
3: On the right panel where you have the Call and Put option, use the space in the Trade section to add Target, SL and Trailing SL.

@Hardik Fantastic!

Feedback:

  1. Allow us to customize the layout. The underlying by default goes to the left of the screen. Allow us to keep it where we want it to be (Left, Center or Right). Will be quite useful because Order Panel is on the Right, for some of us having the Underlying to the Center or Right will be more useful
  2. Please see if the Watchlist can be integrated as an Option next to Trade, Option Chain and Full Dept buttons

Thank you and keep up the great work!

For part 1 : it’s already there. these are clickable options. try them out!

No SL&TP option ?

Excellent. Thanks for your efforts on this. I love this

Max Pain is very useful feature for Option Traders. So if you can show Max Pain value too along with Option chain that will be very useful. With That in same screen everything will be available for option trader.

Thanks in advance

No option to change quantities to trade directly from chart. Ex: 65 cant be changed for nifty options if I want to trade from chart. I was expecting the quantities set in the trade panel to reflect in the strike chart so that I can easily set buy sell limit directly on the chart.

Team Dhan, Thank you for this features. I will be testing it today.

However, I do have one feature request. Please add the ability to create Price Alert on Dhan App chart just as we have it on Dhan Web. As of now to create an alert we have to go back to the Stock page and create it there. I think having it on the chart itself will be really helpful. Thank you. @Hardik @PravinJ

Yes, a toggle is always better option

Yes. It’s a must. Other trading terminals have it.

Thanks so much @magicpoison

For my use case - using your image as an example - how do we get NIFTY BANK (which is the center panel) to the Right Side, where BANKNIFTY 24 FEB 60000 PUT is?

Well done team. Suggestions for improvement.

  1. Predefined TP and SL: Once an order is placed—whether a market or limit order—the take profit (TP) and stop loss (SL) should be triggered immediately. Traders should be able to predefine default TP and SL values, which are automatically applied at the time of order placement.

  2. Drag and drop SL and TP
Even after the order is executed, the TP and SL levels should remain adjustable through drag-and-drop functionality directly on the chart.

  3. Show profit and loss
Additionally, we need on the chart the estimated monetary gain or loss on the order, TP, and SL tabs, allowing traders to clearly see potential profit and risk in currency terms. @Hardik @Naman @PravinJ

Here’s the chart structure example. I hope these are done sooner as some other brokers are already doing it and very easy to use.

Thanks Dhan for this amazing feature, but instead of quantity, can we have lots or add some setting to display lot size instead of quantity, cuz most calculate lot size instead of quantity.

Hello @sri1647 @dheepan_raj @nitishbangera @MBP1 @magicpoison @Skyadav @ganesh_joshi @SatySatsZB @thetribaltrader @abhiramskrishna @t7support

First of all, thank you for writing in your feedback and views on this.

We are looking into how we can provide this data. Currently, we do have Option Chain which has all these data points already available.

This is something which we will add in the upcoming builds, given a lot of users have already asked for this and we had planned for later releases.

On this, adding watchlist is not something we are planning to do as of now. The idea is simple - we want to keep scalping mode different from the main web platform. If you are looking for a particular section of the watchlist that you want to keep a tab on or any other reason that we might be missing, will be happy to reconsider.

Yes, this is something we are working on already, should be out soon.

This is already getting fixed in the upcoming build.

Will definitely look into adding this. Just a question here, you just want to see Max Pain or only with the Option Chain

Will check if the library allows this and will take this up soon.

Answering this separately on the Price Alert thread. On a short note, adding anything on charts - app or web - can be extremely resource extensive and slow down core charting on devices.

Yes, this is something we have taken note of, will be working on it soon.

While this automatically happens for positions, it is difficult to do for TP or SL given the same is not extended on the library as an option.

Yes, we will incorporate this as well soon.
