Now Updated: All New Switch Account Experience for you!

Hello everyone!

At Dhan, we have always continued to improve your experience across all features and products.

When we launched Switch Accounts on Dhan back in 2022, it was an industry-first feature and is still today one of the most user-friendly ways in which you can seamlessly manage multiple accounts for your family members. Yes - we understand it is important to many to keep a track of investments made by your family members on their behalf.

We’ve received multiple suggestions over the past couple of months on how we could improve this even further, from our community members itself.

We’ve made the following updates to the Switch Account Experience:

  1. You can now add up to 5 members to Switch Accounts
  2. Whenever you login to Dhan, it will open the Primary Account by default - and you can customize it whenever you want
  3. You can now choose which profile to “sign out” of and only keep the relevant ones in Switch Account

nice initiative but can you add something like scalping software like quick entry and quik exit

Hi @rravi_bbhargav Well, no additional charges for Switch Experience for our users.

Once if I have set an account as primary, when i add new account, that new account sets as primary automatically. And since after adding new account it directly logs us to home screen and there is no intimation of primary account change, we have to spend extra time during next app open.

Also the manage profile option could be shifted to top left corner with a setting icon only. Just a design preference.

We tested this across multiple devices and the Primary Account does not change when you add a new account, as that is not the intended flow. Allow me some time to reach out to you personally and check if there’s a device-specific issue.

Tested something to be sure. Noted a few things

  1. Since I already had 1 account added way earlier, the primary account change didn’t happen with that earlier account being added again.
  2. Since I didn’t had my mother’s account added in previous versions, when I tried adding that account with password and otp, that time the primary account changed automatically

  3. Primary account change didn’t happen since yesterday’s update to v1.0.72. my experience above was with the previous update as on 12th February. I tried by signing out accounts and adding again. This time everything was fine.

Good feature but why my secondary accounts were logged out?
Anyway, I’ll log in again. Thank you again for raising the limit to 5 from 2.

In the switch account experiene, apart from primary account to open at the time of app launch, cant we simply set to last account used ?

That makes it more simple.

I mean primary account option is fine but why not have another option for last used account ?

Hi @krishag,

The concept of a “Primary Account” was meant to ensure a predictable experience, especially for a user who is managing multiple accounts of their family. The switch is seamless and hardly takes a couple of seconds.

Additionally, unless the app is cleared from the background, the “Last Used” account will open by default.

Let me know if you’re facing any issue in this experience.

My only point was that when I see apps in the western countries, they give options which are complete and full.

Here, while I know how much hard work it takes to roll out features but if we keep these small options and features also in mind during development, we could really build something amazing over time when we look back at things.

I have set up five accounts.

And I have enabled fingerprint / biometric for all.

When I try to switch to any secondary account, biometric works.

But when I switch to primary account, it shows popup message “Invalid request”. Popup comes and goes within one second.

And then I have to login via OTP i.e. biometric does not work.
