Introducing: FastScan to Watchlist with Camera

Dear Traders & Investors,

All of us at Dhan like to build for you! We have always been at the forefront of building, improving and enhancing our platforms to ensure we are able to bring to you an Incredible Investing and Trading experience.

One of the things we have rarely spoken about our users is that almost 90% of them have moved from other stock broking & trading platforms for the much superior experience we strive to bring on Dhan. This also resonates with the fact that we have always stated - if you know markets (trading and investing) and are serious about it, we will work towards building an experience that you would love.

For our users, we have introduced many unique features and we are committed to be in this journey. Some of our most recent features are well adopted which includes Dhan WiFi - Your Personal Network for Instant Orders, Corporate Actions directly in Watchlist, One-Tap Pay for ICICI Bank users, Scalping on Charts, Simplified Portfolio and many others that are being active used by Investors and Traders on Dhan.

Introducing FastScan to Watchlist with Camera

As mentioned, most Traders and Investors on Dhan have moved from other platforms to us. Which also means that when they have to get started - they also need to bring their trading setups to Dhan, the most important of all is the Watchlist. We have introduced many features on watchlist over the past 24 months, to begin with Invested Watchlist, Corporate Actions now integrated with Watchlist, shortcuts in Watchlist and the recent one - Fast Add to Watchlist.

Today, we’re incredibly excited to introduce to you another industry-first feature from Dhan: FastScan to Watchlist with your Camera. This is designed for both Investors and Traders, and it revolutionises the ease at which you are able to create your watchlists on Dhan.

FastScan with Camera is designed to effortlessly capture companies / scrips that you can add to Dhan from any sources - Newspapers, TV, browsing on the Web, scanning popular mainstream financial websites like MoneyControl, Rediff Money, Economic Times, or event scanning your existing watchlists & portfolios on other platforms. It just makes it easy and simple - Open Dhan app, go to any watchlist and tap the search bar, post which select FastScan with Cam.

Now by simply scanning any list or stocks with your camera, you can quickly create a watchlist, saving significant time and effort in the process; yes - also a fun way!

How to use FastScan with Camera to build your Watchlists:

In a New Watchlist:

  • Create a new watchlist, and on that tap on “Scan via Camera”
  • Point your camera at the List you wish to replicate.
  • Scanned list will appear on your screen.
  • Review the scanned items and unselect any stocks you do not wish to add.
  • Click on “Add Watchlist” to finalise and create your new watchlist.

In an Existing Watchlists:

  • Access your existing watchlists and tap the add icon at the bottom or tap on search and select ‘Scan via Camera’
  • Point your camera at the List you wish to replicate.
  • Scanned list will appear on your screen.
  • Review the scanned items and unselect any stocks you do not wish to add.
  • Click on “Add Watchlist” to finalise and create your watchlist.

One of the standout benefits of Scan Watchlist is its ability to enhance efficiency. You don’t need to worry about remembering or hastily adding stocks to your watchlist anymore. With our new feature, you can effortlessly scan any list directly and add them to your watchlist with ease.

Moreover, Scan Watchlist offers you control and accuracy in managing your watchlists. After scanning a list, you have the flexibility to review the stocks that appear and deselect any that you prefer not to include. This ensures that your watchlist is tailored precisely to your preferences and investment strategies. Whether you’re a seasoned trader or new to investing, this feature is designed to enrich your trading experience with timely, actionable insights.

We are confident that the Scan Watchlist feature will enhance your trading and investing experience by providing a faster, more efficient way to create and manage your watchlists.

Give it a try and let us know your feedback!

Happy Trading and Investing,
Mahima Shah

Good show of tech capability, but I am not sure of its usability. TradingView has import list feature, which FYERS offers to customers. If your team adds that feature, then that would be more helpful.

Perhaps some users might find this new scan feature useful.

Anyways…

Fully agreed. Import/Export would be much more beneficial. This Scan and add is prompting very low accuracy.

For me, even with normal text i.e., white background with black fonts, it is working improperly. Rightly said, rather than checking again and again, better to add manually.

Dear Team Dhan,

It would have been nice for traders to have the dedicated Bracket Order feature similar to the Scalper. This request for a dedicated BO feature has been long ago…

In this BO button we should be able to set our TP and SL by entering default points. So, when we spot a good entry we just have to click the BO buy order and let the trade play out. Right now, on the chart, we have to do right click and the select Trade from Dhan and then enter manually the TP and SL and limit order. This is slowing down traders…we often missed crucial points by the time we finish setting up a trade.

I hope you got the point or issues I am saying. Please introduce this feature. @Dhan_Cares @MahimaShah @Divyesh @Hardik @Naman @PravinJ

Hi @Shally @Champion_Trader

We tried scanning the same list and observed that while the stocks are being scanned successfully, the result status still shows as “check” instead of “success.” The discrepancy arises because the list you provided contains symbols, but the response from Dhan is based on the complete names. We will work on addressing this issue.

Thank You.

Hello @thetribaltrader

We do not want to complicate Scalper as it exists today, but we are working on something very exciting on Orders. Charts have been built, where Target and SL can be created very easily, we are reworking that.

This will take some time, but will definitely make the experience very smooth.

Working like a charm.

Can’t tell you how happy I am @Dhan team @PravinJ.

Couldn’t have imagined they would give such a feature which is waaaay better than anyone in the industry.

My sincere thanks to the team. Way to go!

Out of a 52 scrips in a CSV file, it correctly identified 51 scrips with the exception of NSE:BAJAJ-AUTO-EQ. This symbol is getting identified as Bajaj Steel Industries. Don’t know why. But otherwise working fully.

Thanks for the reply. What I meant was a separate BO button similar to Scalper or a single tap button somewhere in the chart…that will have its own setting where we can predefined our SL and target with points. So, when we get a good opportunity, we can just execute the order instead of using Right Click on the chart and then going to Trade from Dhan and then setting up the trade manually everytime we want to place BO order… if this can be done, it will be awesome. …

Hi Dhan Team,

One more Sweet Surprise, Came to know about this feature after seeing “Shally”'s post and tested it in my TV.Dhan web,

I have copy pasted 23 stocks from Excel onto TV. Dhan’s Import script feature under Paste Instrument names box, I must say out of the 23, 22 stocks got picked up in a jiffy and new watchlist got created. LALPATHLAB is the stock that was ignored.

Once again!!! kudos to u guys, keep it up…

Hello @thetribaltrader

Understood. We are working on something around order types, and how we handle them on Dhan. But we have this feedback as well, will try to add this on tv.dhan.co.

Hi @Dhan team, could you check this issue? It is still identifying Bajaj Auto as Bajaj Steel Industries.

BAJAJ_AUTO this works me

I’m typing this:

BAJAJ-AUTO

but getting recognised as Bajaj Steel Industries instead. :woman_shrugging:
