Now Live: Track all your External Mutual Funds on Dhan!

Dear Investors,

We love building products and features for those who think they are made for the markets - be it Super Traders or Long Term Investors. We started our investing journey with Stocks & ETFs, and have been lately doubling down on making investing features and capabilities for the Mutual Funds investing platform that we launched a few months back.

At Dhan, our mission has always been to make trading and investing simpler and more accessible. While at this, we also want to ensure that it is easier for you to track and manage your investments - even the ones outside of Dhan, on Dhan to show you a consolidated view of your financial assets. This is exactly why Dhan was one of the first investing platforms to enable tracking of your Portfolio Holdings across all brokers on Dhan including real-time values during market hours, and later also showing the Cash in Bank as Balances across all connected banks - all of this through the Account Aggregator framework.

Now, we are excited to announce that we are also introducing the ability to Track your External Mutual Fund investments on Dhan. With this new update, you will now be able to view all your Mutual Fund investments in a single place - Dhan, which also saves you time while you are making informed investment decisions on Dhan.

Steps to Track your External Mutual Fund Portfolio on Dhan:

  1. Go to the Main Portfolio on Dhan
  2. Scroll down to Investments outside Dhan and tap on Mutual Funds
  3. Proceed ahead with the journey to connect with MF Central and verify the request via OTP.

You can also access this via External Mutual Funds under Portfolio, or also via the main home section of Mutual Funds, and scroll down to External Portfolio.

That’s it! All your external Mutual Funds Investments will sync in a few minutes. You will receive a notification on the Dhan app once your entire Mutual Fund portfolio is available.

For your convenience, we have also added the External Portfolio to your main Portfolio section of the Mutual Funds section, making it much easier, simpler and accessible for you to track all your investments on Dhan.

Please note that any new purchases or redemptions done externally will update during your next refresh, available once every 7 days. And this is just the beginning! We have more exciting features on the way, including the ability to redeem external funds and switch from Regular to Direct funds, all on Dhan.

Start tracking all your Mutual Funds on Dhan, and share your feedback with us!

Stay Invested with Dhan,
Radhika

Hi @Radhika

Can you please check why I am not able to fetch external funds? Attaching the screenshot.

Hi @Ajay_Chhabra , this feature is designed to provide existing Dhan Mutual Fund users with an integrated investing experience by giving them a complete view of their portfolio. You’ll need to make at least one investment on Dhan to unlock this benefit and start tracking all your external mutual fund investments on Dhan.

Dear Dhan Team,

Thank you for enabling Mutual Fund investing and tracking of external Mutual Funds on the Dhan platform.

Today, I began shifting my SIPs from Paytm Money to the Dhan Platform and initiated 5 SIPs. More SIPs will be transferred from Paytm Money to Dhan in the coming days.

However, I am facing an issue with the tracking of external Mutual Funds. The data is currently showing incorrectly, and I believe I understand the cause. After setting up my SIPs on the Dhan Platform, I started consolidating one of my Nippon Mutual Fund folios through MFCentral. I plan to consolidate additional folios in the future for easier management.

Yesterday, I completed the consolidation of the Nippon Growth Fund - Growth - Direct folio.

Suggested Solution:
After consolidating a Mutual Fund folio, the amount and units should appear under the main Dhan Mutual Fund section, as the distributor has been set to Dhan for all associated amounts and units for the Nippon Growth Fund - Growth - Direct. Alternatively, any units from previous investments should still be visible under External Mutual Fund tracking.

Currently, these units are not visible in either the main Dhan Mutual Fund section or the External Mutual Fund tracking. Since I plan to continue consolidating multiple mutual fund folios, I kindly request that you look into a solution to accurately reflect these consolidated folios on the Dhan platform.

Until a proper resolution is in place, I will not proceed with further another consolidation of mutual fund folios.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a resolution.

Complete mail with Folio numbers (Source + Target both ) and Amount sent at help@dhan.co

Thanks,

Hi @Pranav1 thank you for your patience. As discussed, we have yet to receive the updated entry from the RTAs. We are actively following up with them, and they are currently looking into it. The AMC has confirmed that the consolidation was successfully processed on their end. Once the RTA updates their records, we’ll be able to reflect this in our app for you. We’ll keep you informed as soon as there’s progress. Thank you again.

Hi, thanks for providing this feature. Couple of queries -

  • what’s minimum one investment? Will investment in stocks work as it’s not reasonable to open another MF for an existing folio just for tracking on Dhan.
  • is there online process to shift SOA MF from other platform (Paytm money here) so that Dhan becomes it new distributor and no need to track it externally. Means can I do the subsequent SIPs at Dhan?

Hi @Skc, To track external Mutual Funds on Dhan, you’ll need to make at least one mutual fund investment on Dhan. However, we’ve noted your feedback and will consider it for future updates. As for moving your SOA Mutual Fund from another platform to Dhan, you can consolidate it into a Dhan folio via MF Central. Let us know if you have any more questions, we are here to assist you with the same.

Thanks, this is helpful for my current requirement.

Hi @Radhika
Just wanted to ask if I make a transaction in the same folio using MFCentral, does it recocile with Dhan?
Not external fund.

Hi @Pradumya RTAs send transaction specific to the platforms to us. So you will see only those transactions on Dhan, the rest will appear in External MF Funds.

Sir my post was not approved. Just wanted to know that at the time of opening a Dhan account, we have to sign the same as in our PAN card but this is not possible at the time of signing on the mobile screen. So please provide us the option to upload the signature.

Hi @Prabhajihello you do have option to click photo of signature. Just sign on a blank paper and click photo of your signature from Dhan app. Option is just below Sign on Screen option.

I think upload signature option is removed. I want to recent YouTube videos regarding this topic and can see only sign on screen option in that videos. @PravinJ am I right Sir?

@Radhika @PravinJ Restricted a user on this tracking feature with investment is bad idea.
Allow everyone to track the external mf.
Or provide this feasibility that user can invest directly on external mf folios rather than investing in dhan first’ and create different folios on same amc.
Kuwera does this very well folio management somthing you can implement on dhan

Hi @MasterGk We do not want to get into folio management, its a messy operation specially for a player like us who is new to the market - we have to clean experience and not manage / clean up unnecessary mess left behind by past platforms. We want to provide users a clean and simple investment options, as a user myself - returns and experiences matters to me the most.

On Mutual Funds - we do not make money on MF as it is a direct MF investment. Additional costs are incurred in KYC, payments and other operational activities including fetching and updating the external portfolios. Hence we would like to keep this (for free) for our power users. It may disappoint a few, but for now we continue to keep it this way. May change in future.

Hi @PravinJ sir
I understand that “Free me itna hi milega” completely understandable.
Just wanted to know let’s say, I invested 1L in Parag Parikh Flexi Cap fund via Dhan.
Now on a certain day, I did a lumpsum topup for 50k in the same fund but via Mfcentral app.
Dhan app will not update that additional 50k I agree, but that additional 50k is not even available in external funds list as well. The folio number is same for complete 1.5L investment.

Is there a workaround for this by chance? Thanks.

Hi @Pradumya , If you invest in any fund via external platforms in the folio that is created with us, we will update it in our Dhan MF section once we receive the updated entry from the RTAs for our folio. In case you’ve experienced any discrepancy please let us know or reach out to our support team and we will help you out with the same.

Hi, I did the consolidation on MF central app today with target folio as from Dhan. While the status is reflecting as success in MF central app, by when I can expect the status to be updated in Dhan app, please suggest.

Hi @Skc we update the status once we receive a confirmation from the RTAs. We are already in discussions with RTAs to provide us with updated statements for the same. They are looking into it at their end. We will update you on the same by early next week.
