Now Live: View Unlisted Shares in Your Portfolio Holdings

Dear Investors,

At Dhan, we’re striving to enhance your experience by building investor-centric features in the past few months.

To quickly recap, we’ve introduced several exciting features like Marking Stocks as Long Term (First in Industry), Multibagger Stocks (First in Industry), Real-Time Portfolio Insights (First in Industry), Sell Fast with DDPI (First in Industry), Dividend Tracking (First in Industry), Automatic Invested Watchlist (First in Industry), Color labelled Stocks in Watchlist, Corporate Actions in Watchlist & Portfolio, IPOs, Investing Labels and much more. We’re not stopping there, with plenty more in the pipeline!

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce another enhancement to make your investment journey smoother: View Unlisted Shares in Your Portfolio.

What Are Unlisted Shares in Demat Account

  • Unlisted Shares: These are shares of companies that are not listed on any stock exchange, meaning they are privately held. They can be purchased through private placements or employee stock options (ESOPs) but are not publicly traded like listed stocks.
  • Pre-Listed / Traded Shares: Typically these will reflect as shares that you have received as part of Rights Issues, Bonus Shares, De-Mergers, as result of Corporate Actions of via IPOs, that are credited to your demat account - however they have not started traded on exchanges yet.
  • Delisted Shares: These are shares of companies that were once listed on a stock exchange but have been removed or “delisted” for various reasons, such as non-compliance, or voluntary withdrawal.

In above cases, these shares are part of your investments, but because they are unlisted or delisted, they cannot be traded on exchanges.

How Will This Feature Benefit You?

We understand how important it is for investors to have a complete view of all their holdings. Even though unlisted or delisted shares can’t be traded, it’s important to keep track of them in your portfolio for several reasons:

  • Accurate Portfolio Valuation: By adding the average or cost price of these shares, you can maintain a more accurate picture of your overall portfolio value.
  • Holistic Investment Overview: Having all your assets, including unlisted and delisted shares, visible in one place gives you better insight into your investment strategy.
  • Better Planning: You can monitor these investments until they potentially become tradable (in case of an IPO) or liquidate them via alternative methods.

This allows for better portfolio management, ensuring that even non-tradable investments are easy to monitor and calculate as part of your overall asset allocation.

How to View and Track Your Unlisted or Delisted Shares:

  1. Go to your Portfolio > Click on the new Unlisted tab.
  2. Here, you’ll be able to see all your Unlisted Shares.
  3. You can also manually add the average price or cost price for better portfolio tracking.
  4. For IPO allocation, shares credited to your demat account before the listing day will also be shown here with IPO tag.

Additionally, we’ve made it easy for you to manage the visibility of these shares. If you prefer not to display them, you can choose to hide them by going to Portfolio Settings.

This feature is designed to give you a more complete view of your portfolio and make it easier to manage all your investments, including non-tradable ones. We hope this enhancement simplifies your portfolio tracking and helps you better manage your overall asset allocation.

As always, we welcome your feedback to make your experience even better. Stay tuned for more updates and features coming your way soon!

Thanks,
Mahima Shah
