📈 SLBM Market Insights for July 2026: Rental Trends, Top Stocks & Yield Opportunities

Welcome to the July 2026 edition of our monthly SLBM Market Insights.

The Securities Lending and Borrowing Mechanism (SLBM) enables investors to lend their eligible shares and potentially earn rental income while continuing to hold their investments. Every month, we analyse activity across the SLBM segment to highlight borrowing trends, lending yields and the stocks that witnessed the highest demand.

These insights provide a snapshot of where borrowing activity was concentrated during the month, which stocks generated attractive lending yields and how the SLBM market evolved across different sectors and expiries.

:bar_chart: July 2026 Market Snapshot

Metric Value
Total Rented Value ₹77,54,29,870.57 (₹77.54 Crores)
Total Rented Volume 15,39,76,417 Shares
Active Stocks in SLBM 315 Scrips

July witnessed continued participation in the SLBM market, with the total rented value increasing to ₹77.54 crore while the number of active stocks expanded significantly to 315 scrips. Although the overall rented volume declined compared to June, market activity became more diversified with participation spread across a wider universe of stocks.

Capital goods, defence, infrastructure, technology and financial services remained among the most active sectors. Stocks such as Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Lodha Developers, Wipro, Bharat Dynamics, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and KFin Technologies featured prominently across traded activity and lending yields. Railway and defence-related names continued to attract borrower interest, while several mid-cap companies generated exceptionally high annualised lending yields due to limited lending supply and strong borrowing demand.

The month’s data also demonstrates that high lending yields are not always associated with the highest traded volumes. While large-cap companies continued to account for a substantial share of borrowing activity, several relatively less-traded stocks delivered significantly higher rental returns, highlighting the importance of tracking both market activity and lending yields when evaluating SLBM opportunities.
